The anime uses the intertextuality "Footprints in the Sand" , a poem describing how God carried a man during the worst times of his life.

As I watched the anime, I sort of don't understand how the poem relates to the anime in anyway in terms of plot, I mean you could consider Otoha as a God but in terms of plot, its not like she did anything that affected Hirose, Hayami or any other characters during the poor times of their life besides giving them shoddy advice. She didn't change the course of the plot, all she did was watch the characters.

You may think that Otoha curing Hirose's blindness is something Hirose wasn't in a state of depression of anything.

So Correct me if im wrong, but how does the poem which the anime is based off relate to the plot in anyway? I see a relationship between the characters but plotwise i don't
