Pandoras and Stigmata

Having only watched the anime, I was wondering if it was ever explained in the manga why Pandora were only women. Is it possible for a male to have the stigmata implanted in his body or to be born with it? Are there any explanations preventing this from being a possibility or was this not addressed?

The reason why pandoras were only women was because only they can mature the Crystals that give them there powers. Also males would have crystal implants that belonged to there partner. When they get the implant it is called a baptism. Or that's what I've gathered. Also it says all that and in a better way in the show just so u know.
