| I have always wondered about this, is the anime or manga better for Akira? Tell me which one and a good reason why. Yes, the anime is much more condensed than the manga, but its animation was spectacular. The manga is so much more enjoyable for me. It just puts the whole story together better and isn't leaving you at the end, due to its shortness. Also, it just gives you move time to get attached to the characters before it's all over. My choice: Akira (Manga) FALLEN101 aka Matt if you post don't hate on Akira lol. I know you will think about it. hahahha You have seen both so lets hear it. |
| Well, if anyone wants to hear my actual unabridged thoughts on Akira the movie, look in the series disscussion forums under the heading "What's so great about Akira anyway?" You might get a kick out of it. Espiecially you Sorrow. But overall, I'm going to have to say the manga just because it goes so much more in depth. I mean they did a good job condensing it into just two hours but with six massive volumes, they had to cut quite a bit out. So I'll have to go with the manga on this one. (On my list the movie got a 2 whereas the manga got a 6. Not a big Akira fan at all.) |

| This shouldn't even be a question. The manga, undoubtedly. Love the movie, but waaaay too much was cut out. Now that they're making a live action movie, they have the chance to remedy that, but I don't think they will. In order to do the manga any justice, Otomo should just make it an anime like FREEDOM. |

| Manga, of course. That movie really doesn't do this fantastic manga a justice. It deserves a 100+ episode series. But that most probably won't ever happen. |
