| Since this is a spinoff of Type-Moon Universe animes, I would recommend you to take a peek at Kara no Kyoukai and Shingetsutan Tsukihime to get to know the characters. |
| You don't need fate/zero for carnival phantasm but half the skits are based around tsukihime so you need some familiarity with it. The tsukihime anime adaptation doesn't introduce all the characters so you are better off reading the visual novel. |

| Technically you can watch it but it’s mostly based on Type Moon series (F/SN & Tsukihime VN’s) so unless you are familiar with those or you watch those prior, you won’t be able to understand most of the references. |
