On the one hand it's an intrinsic fact that no VN adaptation can be done properly in less than 2 cour, on the other it's not as though it can get any worse.

That comment sounds a bit ambiguous, he could be referring to the second half of episode 7 but if it is indeed 1 cour then it's over.

I really doubt they would bother reporting they've finished the first half of an episode...

If something similar wasn't reported before (during production of some previous episode) then I'm 100% sure this is going to be just one cour. Especially since the tweet says "It's over half and now we'll enter the second half"

For what it's worth, when asked by a Japanese fan if that means it will be one cour, he tip toed around a bit and did not give any real answer.

More important though would be to know how much of the story would be adapted in the first cour. It's a bit inconclusive looking at the promotion material released so far. The trailers include material up to
and which would make for a good point to end a season on. On the other hand the purple Takemikazuchi is featured very prominently which should not make a real appearance until much later in the story. That could mean anything really, that they adapt the whole thing in one cour which would be a mess, that they rewrite some parts to have it appear much earlier, that some arcs are completely cut, could also be a bait and switch as it was with the promotion material for the original Muv Luv...

Imo at most they will adapt the story up to that aforementioned point, which would still be a break neck pace, but a lot more realistic than adapting the whole thing. If I had any say in it the first cour would end at you-know-which-scene.

i dread to think what would it be like for 1 cour. Maybe they'll skip out the entire training & CCSC and go straight to TSF....

one cour but at least make it good, the pv didn't clear my doubts in regards to the adaptation

I know this is late but purple mech did indeed shows up as it was shows in the trailer. But it isn't the person you think of. It belong to another no name guard.

I presume you refer to the one shown in the
? That's the blue version (used by the regent houses), piloted by Ikaruga Takatsuga. The one that can be seen in the hangar in the trailer and also on the official website is the purple one.

Yes That who I meant, but I see so it was blue and not purple! But in which game does he shows up in? because I dont remember him from Alternative.

He's unnamed in Alternative but he has the same voice actor as in his later appearances. Ikaruga has quite a big role in both Total Eclipse (the Teito Moyu part of the game) and especially in Unlimited The Day After, the latter of which is available on Steam now and it's really good!

I do hope he gets some actual screen time in the anime adaptation

No but this is also not starting from the beginning of the story. It's essentially starting from the final arc/season content.

Their expressed goal is to get new people into the franchise, they will probably try to make it work as a standalone.

other VN adaptations are 1 cour too so i expect a lot of complains from the VN readers again for it being crammed and rushed

Even two cour would be too short for this show by far.
Sometimes people forget Muv Luv Alternative is about as long as 2.5 of the 3 Fate routes combined, and just to get a decent adaptation of UBW took that much alone. Anything less than 50 eps is probably pushing it to do a solid adaptation of MLA on that level.

Do I expect it to get that much? Sadly no. But I think people are underestimating exactly how bad it will be if its anything shorter than 3 cour at a bare minimum

If anything, look how many adaptations Fate has, this adaptation estimation is laughable at best. Anime only first ep? kekw

if they're planning to produce more up all the way after this, they either do multiple movies or OVA/ONA release as season 2 or so on if the popularity or interest are low like how Strike the Blood is after season 2.
