What are your thoughts on Koizumi, Itsuki's personality?

I personally think that they could have developed his character a bit more. For example, during the Aincrad arc, he was severely underwhelming in comparison to Mio Akiyama. Although the Light Music Club was able to entirely submerge within the depths of Sabers Noble Phantasm. I still truly believe that Kaori Miyazono could have possibly utilized her Geass to it's full extent. Regardless, Sakurajima Mai was proven to be able to withstand the forces of all the Chimera Ants altogether. So where does that bring us?

I really like him, he is calm, outgoing and kind yet quite mysterious. He’s the one I’m most interested in out of all the characters but sadly he isn’t very developed, at least not in the anime.
I wonder if the light novel or manga give him more depth.
