There are many things skipped from manga, and some chronological order also changed which no one understood. But it's not only thing that can make an anime worse, in case of Nanatsu No Taizai producers just wanted to promote new sequal manga and game, they didn't respect fans expectations and just wanted to make money ASAP, I think they succeeded in making sequal manga and game popular but anime was done with no intent with quality, so it was bound to get fucked.
