Is this set in Japan or South Korea?

Topic, I just watched the second episode, and I also watched the ONA. As I understand it, the original Webtoon is set in S. Korea. But from the information I gathered so far from watching EP1 and EP2, the Anime is set in Japan. Is this a deliberate choice from Production IG? Or is it just the JP version only?

It is set in SK, but I guess the location is irrelevant or has little to do with the story so saying Japan or even China doesn't matter, I guess it has to do with if they're living in korea why are they speaking japanese thing

i can't stand how their school still says ye-ran but the voice acting & script uses their japanese names lol

The Japanese dub has it set in Japan while the sk dub has it set in sk.
