Now i loved handa kun.

it was a so called prequel but handa's calligraphy wasnt even a premise in it.

the two synopsis dont make these shows seem related except this is linked as a sequel to it. other than hnada himself, no one from his school is listed as characters.

and despite being two years older than handa, this barakamon's manga is still on going while the handa manga is over.

so will I enjoy this as much as handa kun, is the way the show is done similar?

handa ended pretty well, how does this end? does the ending feel empty and half assed since the manga is on going?

or does it conclude at a proper arc end?

Depends if you like Slice of Life series. The overall feel of the two shows are completely different.

Barakamon is widely accepted as one of the best SoL shows, while Handa kun unfortunately fell into the run-of-the-mill school comedy setting; which to me anyway, went completely off the mark.

I'm not even sure if we learned anything new about Handa's character in this so-called prequel. You could have told me they were completely unrelated characters/series and I wouldn't have batted an eye.

Since Barakamon is a SoL, there really isn't any proper ending; which is likely why the manga is ongoing. The ending for the anime was satisfying enough for me anyway -- I don't recall there being too many loose ends.

In any case, count yourself lucky as the chances of you enjoying Barakamon after watching Handa kun is much higher than someone who watches the two in reverse.

handa kun is a comedy anime. barakamon is a bit more slice of life-y. I enjoyed more handa kun honestly but If you started with handa kun you'd enjoy barakamon more since a few of his school friends reappear there

Baramon's better in my opinon. Not that Handa-kun's bad, it's actually quite funny & I enjoyed it.

They have different directions, so the answer is depends.

Barakamon is fish out of water hijinks and more SoL to Handa-kun's straight up comedy and tons of misunderstandings.

PS. Didn't like Handa-kun, liked Barakamon.
