Because the series wasn't doing as well as the producers imagined, they quickly tried to finish the Anime by giving it a rather 'filler'ish ending. My brother said the Manga is better than the Anime, has a different ending and explains things more. I haven't read it yet, but I plan to in the future. I suggest you do the same, if you haven't began doing so already.
