Character Development, How would you develop Inaho?

Curious question. Let's pretend you are one of the writer of Aldnoah Zero, and you are given a chance to develop Inaho from a emotionless person, how would you develop him?

I would break him mentally by killing off characters important to him and give him some mental breakdowsn. And then, while he is emotionally unstable, I'll have him become corrupted, bent on destroy Vers Empire, until he become a warmer, yet vengeance drive character.
