| Well it is essentially a soap opera that doesn't use many benefits from actually being an anime. Pretty scenery I guess, but that doesn't really add to this one that much. Basically people would probably just watch a live action soap opera over it. Also the story isn't done very well in my opinion. Had some decent ideas, but I think being limited to 12 episodes hurt it a bit. |
| To be honest, if you thoroughly analyze its plot and characters, True Tears isn't that original. It's a typical romance anime but it comes with an excellent OST that boosted its presentation to the max. The soundtracks can easily set the mood a few seconds into a scene. Still, I gave True Tears a 10/10 simply because it's the first romance anime I've ever watched and it tore me to pieces. If you think about the story, everything is so simple and clear, yet you get mixed feelings everywhere. Usually, I never re-watch anime because I already know what's going to happen. At most, I'd just watch specific fight scenes. True Tears, however, is the only anime I'd re-watch from Episode 1 because in my opinion every scene of the whole anime is worth watching again. Despite its flaws in story writing, True Tears more than makes up with its amazing OST and, for me, its re-watch value. PS: I'm glad that people are still talking about True Tears in 2015. |

| There are a lot of underrated anime like True Tears and I feel bad that they are so often disregarded. True Tears is by far one of the best romance anime I've seen. Mostly because it doesn't have to feature an annoying tsundere or to fill space with already seen melodrama. Other than that, True Tears offers realistic characters and a plausible story with great visual/sound themes. Yet, it is really simple, on the other hand, it manages to be really interesting and entertaining. If you liked True Tears as much as I did, you would probably like the others anime produced by P.A. Works such as Tari Tari, Hanasaku Iroha and Shirobako. |
