So is Iori supposed to be Asuka, the hotshot that had her thunder stolen from the newbie? The one who is actually competent and does her job properly when she's allowed to do things her own way, but gets sexualized and made a fool of at every turn? And this on top of the tsundere act, although to be fair, Asuka wasn't really a tsundere, as she had her own situations to deal with.

That aside, I think this is the first time I've ever seen a mecha show where the pilots are actually nice to their mechas. It's kind of odd really, where there are shows featuring mechas with souls, hearts, or are outright sentient, yet I don't recall the pilots actually going out of their way to tend to their mechas, and I'm not talking about maintenance here. As in, actually caring for them. Huh.

Also, in a lesser show, Haruka would have won against Makoto, or the anime would have shown the fight, drawing it out to Haruka's narrow loss. By skipping all that, maybe this show might continue on well enough. Though I must wonder, to take out the asteroids, wouldn't missiles be easier than training high school girls to pilot mechas? Also, why are battle simulators even a feature in the training pods? Was that part of the job description? Was the organization aware of the apparent antagonists from the first two episodes, or was this just a shoehorned way of informing - not showing - everyone's fighting abilities? A few minor nitpicks, enough to bug me, but not enough to worry me.

It appears that Iori is slowly warming up to Haruka. Neither can beat Makoto in combat though.
