You would do yourself a big disservice since the Memories is slightly better than Melodies. And yes they are very much connected since they are a 2 part adaptation of a visual novel.

it depends on the taste (yes they are connected, and both are rly rly good)

its just that you will prefer the anime that has the pairs you like more, mine were miyako x hirono from season 1...^^^:P
(3 of the mcs from season 2 are side characters in season 1)

Be prepared to cry :D

My favorite quotes from animes:

Those who seek miracles will never experience one. The hand of salvation only extends to people
who try to make miracles happen. - Ef a tale of melodies.
I destroy worlds. I create worlds. - Code geass
We are humans. - Shinsekai yori
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! - One punch man

You can still understand the melodies even without watching the memories. But I suggest watching the memories first, to know more the main characters in melodies.

Totally. I feel like you can skip. The second season was much better than the first, and includes some events that happened beforehand. If you must, maybe even watch Melodies first and then Memories, so you don't ruin the franchise for yourself. They're connected, but it won't interfere with your understanding at all, skipping one.

Watch memories, let some time pass, then watch melodies (they're very different, so don't treat melodies as a direct sequel).

Or even better: watch memories, then stop.

What did you expect? They're very different. Watch Memories first. Then you can watch Melodies. They're 12 episodes each, it's not that hard to do.

Nope. Even if Melodies has a prequel story, it still have a present story.

Also, if you watched Melodies first, then you'll not be interested so much in Yuko in Memories.
The world shall know the truth soon.
