| I've been wondering for a while... Why do you turds love this thing so much? Every time someone asks for a rec that it fits on, or for a "romance animu movie" there it is. imo, it isn't even the best movie Shinkai produced. But somehow it gets way more attention in this community than his other stuff. It's rushed towards the end, doesn't appeal, the plot is flat and way more manipulative than his early works. It doesn't have the strong symbolism of Beyond the Clouds neither the heavy tumbling down feeling from 5cm/s. Is it because of the rain porn? I admit the rain porn was nice. |

If I wanted a Kotonoha discussion I wouldn't compare it to his works neither ask for the community thoughts on the matter. I'm asking for a general view on some director works. Uhm dunno, it probably appealed more to you, but his stuff is really the drama/rom with sci-fi/imaginary world elements... like in early Hoshi no Koe and such. Kotonoha is way more "simplistic" when compared to the intricate symbolism and visuals of that for example. |
