Well the clubs would be a lot less dead if we got notified of new posts. Right now I only see them by chance when I check the last active clubs and that doesn't include forum posts.

At least soon we'll have plenty to talk about. Gainax has reorganized into a studio called Gaina (very original) and supposedly they're working on Uru in Blue, Gunbuster 3 and two other titles. We'll see if they can reach the glory of good old Gainax, but as the saying goes "Old Gainax, best Gainax!"

I think what was unique about old Gainax is that it was basically a group of students who loved anime and Sci-Fi, and knew the medium really closely. You can tell from the Daicon shorts and Otaku no video that they were kind of otaku themselves, but they made fun of it and managed to use their enthusiasm and knowledge to make some really good anime.

Gainax were kinda inspired by Urusei Yatsura, Star Wars and other magical shows that marked the era. I feel like a lot of studios nowadays just rush things and only look at profits.
