Year 24 Group

Information
While the membership of The Year 24 Group is not official, the term refers to the of female mangaka who completely revolutionized shoujo manga, and whose influence can be seen in every modern shoujo work. The term comes from the fact that many of them were born in the year Showa 24 (1949; for this reason they are also occasionally referred to as the Forty-Niners). Commonly cited members of the group are as follows, as well as their best-known work(s) (if any) in the English-speaking fandom: - Yasuko Aoike (From Eroica with Love) - Moto Hagio (A, A'; They Were Eleven) - Riyoko Ikeda (Rose of Versailles; Oniisama E...) - Aiko Itou - Toshie Kihara - Minori Kimura - Wakako Mizuki - Yumiko Ooshima (The Star of Cottonland) - Yasuko Sakata - Nanae Sasaya - Shio Satou - Keiko Takemiya (To Terra...; Kaze to Ki no Uta) - Michi Tarasawa - Mineko Yamada - Ryoko Yamagishi (Shiroi Heya no Futari)

Hi to everyone!

I just want to recommend the book "Passionate Friendship: The Aesthetics of Girl's Culture in Japan" for everyone that wants to learn about the historical development of shôjo manga and the influences behind it. One of the most importants things about the book is that it talks a lot about the girls' culture (shôjo magazines, s relationships, homosocial education, takarazuka revue, etc.) during the prewar period and links all this with the postwar shôjo.

I'm okay with adding mangaka who isn't considered a part of the "group".
