Occupy NISA

Information

What is Occupy NISA?
Occupy NISA (or Occupy NISAmerica) is a fan campaign to pressure NISAmerica to put English dubs in their anime. More particularly, anime that were released sub-only and re-release them with English dubs (particularly Toradora!). This fan campaign is inspired by the Operation Rainfall, who had manage to successfully get Nintendo of America to release two of the three games (Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower) for North American localization (and, as the name implies, a little bit of Occupy Wall Street).
Who is NISAmerica?
NISAmerica is a video game company who is well known to localize games developed by Gust (Atelier and Ar tonelico), Idea Factory (Hyperdimension Neptunia that was co-developed with Compile Heart), and their parent company, Nippon Ichi (namely Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, and La Pucelle). Nippon Ichi is quite well known for their tactical RPGs that features a lot of level grinding, lolis, and out-of-character moments. And yes, per tradition with any video game involving with English voice acting, Nolan North is in these games. Recently, NISAmerica decided to enter the anime market. However, they have released their anime sub-only. In fact, in Anime Expo 2011, they made it officially their business policy to never give dubs to their anime and flip the bird on anime fans who prefer watching their anime English dubbed. We want to change that and make them reconsider.
What can we do to change that?
Take action! Go to their NIS America's forums and constantly complain daily about them refusing to dub their anime. Spam your ideal English dub casts of their anime in every topic (even if it is off-topic). Send feedback about their how good (or bad) their video games are and mention how pissed off you are for them refusing to give English dubs to their anime. Be aggressive and try to make counter-arguments on those who oppose you. Tell them that you refuse to buy their anime until they give English dubs to them or re-release their sub-only releases with dubs. In addition, with the recent acquisition of Anohana by NISAmerica and being released sub-only, we are going to boycott their video games until they dub Anohana and Toradora! with the perfect English dub cast (see FAQs). The reason: because 1) NISAmerica picking up Anohana, a show that deserves to have an English dub, and releasing it sub-only and 2) Sandy Fox has the PERFECT LOLI VOICE for Menma and having NISA picking up just ruins it. Also, we're going to heckle the representatives in every single panel until all of our demands are met.
Contact us at Facebook

Affiliates

Also, Norwegians are not welcome. Because all of you Norwegian anime fans hate English dubs.

To play devil's advocate for a moment here, English dubs are extremely expensive to produce. As a recent entry to the anime licensing business, NIS may not see dubs as a justifiable expense. At least they're sure to get a return on their investment with their games; I don't think the same can be said for their licensed anime, many of which are pretty niche compared to the stuff that gets licensed by Funimation, Sentai, Viz, and Aniplex.

In any case, I still think it's a bit of a travesty that Toradora! will never get a dub.

I know NIS is a video game company but they should never license anime in the first place. All the extra stuff they put in their DVD/BD release, doesn't make up for the lack of dub. Those extra stuff is not worth it and I don't really care about it. Unless if it's something that is worth getting then that's a whole different story. Like with Aniplex's release on Durarara in blu-ray. The lunch box is very nice and it's something that I can use and take with me to school.
Don't you think it's weird that they didn't dub Persona: Trinity Soul and Pandora Hearts. Persona: Trinity Soul is part of the Persona franchise, Akihiko from Persona 3 is in the series and if you're a Persona fan, you would know that a lot of Persona games were released with an English dub. As for Pandora Hearts, it takes place somewhere in Europe. I have no problem watching it Japanese but this anime deserves a dub because of where the story takes place at. It's still weird for fans buying a legal DVD and watching the characters speak Japanese when they live in England, for example.

I hate NIS :( their releasing alot of great titles in North America with subs only but by doing so they prevent dubbing companies like Funimation from buying the licenses so that they can dub the series.

I forgot to mention that there are anime fans that are dyslexic. I was at a convention last month there was a voice actor panel that I went to, this one guy said he wanted to be a voice actor too but he struggles with dyslexia.

I still can't believe they don't even bother to dub Persona: Trinity Soul. I wanna hear Liam's voice as Akihiko in the anime!

F**K NISA!
They have licensed nearly all of my favorite anime and it really hurts me that they don't dub the anime they license. I want to focus more on the WHOLE screen rather than the bottom of the screen, constantly trying to read subtitles while eating.
Besides, there could be anime fans that are blind and probably not fluent in Japanese. Apparently that handicap doesn't apply to NISA. If they keep this up with not releasing anime in an English dub, it'll bring more hate to English dub lovers.
