Mohiro Kitoh

Information
This club is for the fans and anyone that likes the works of the great mangaka Kitoh Mohiro, The creator of the following mangas: Shadow Star Narutaru The Wings of Vendemiaire Bokurano And some short oneshots: Hallucination from the Womb SiNNa 1905 Mihiro Kitohs Short Stories Kare no Satsujin Keikaku Owari to Hajimari no Miles He has a very unique style that makes you think, very psycologic. Always ther's message behind the occorings. In his mangas nothing happening without a reason. And some other thing that really unique is the realism of he's characters, they are very likeable because of the fact that they are human and not some super perfect heroes. Some of he's mangas was turned into anime like narutaru that didn't was really successfull because the story was cut at half and many other problems like the low budget and the cutted out scenes. And the second anime is bokurano that i really hope will bring this great mangaka the attention he really deserve.

Im reading Nanika now. I think its starting similarly to NaruTaru, in that is slightly slow at first but with tinges of darkness thrown it. If this is true, then Nanika is gonna become a huige, freakish mindfuck

Anyone reading Nanika or Noririn?

@lanblade - wow great explanation! This makes me wanna go back and re-read this manga. I wish I was able to make sense of it when I first read it.... oh well. this defintely proves how deep Mohiro Kitoh is.

However, I always thought he was an atheist or nihilist since a lot of his manga leans towards that ideology. So its interesting this story has a lot of God references....

Hallucination from the Womb was terrific. It circulates the idea that humans are terrified of being alone and will at all costs drag others into their hell.

The first story shows how the professor kept cloning his wife and preserving her in each year to embrace her past. A lethal love.

The second story shows a man who didn't want to die alone. Taking the girl into the same slow death. (When she said "that man was a god to me" sent chills down my spine. Truly the person who has your life in their hands is a god. Regardless if they are cruel or not.)

The third story of a man who died and tried to tell his wife "I Love You" even if it meant making her suffer by seeing his corpse.

The fourth story. The girl tires to get the boy to fall in love with her with the water. She is quick to make sexual advances. She's not human so love was nothing more than a fallacy and any boy would have been used.

The fifth story has a zashiki-warashi woo our male lead. She is older than her body is. As the sectors collapse, so does her existence. She wanted to feel physical love before all of her is gone even if it meant breaking the heart of another.

The sixth story revisits the idea of being god. The man created a society of equality with all females (biologically, all humans start as females in the womb) and watched...like god. He could not meddle, because that is what god does. The girls broke into fights to starve off 'boredom' just like the original guy--because man is made in the image of god. And man will ultimately be his own demise and cause god to weep.

The seventh story brings together it all. Rewriting the memory of the girl from the 4th just like how the city builds more layers. Memories are always burned out, even the ones you loved.

Humans are sexual as one of their basic needs. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs shows this. Females are the start of all life, many species can continue without males--even humans.
Adolescence is when females becomes viable to make offspring. Kitoh's use of a naked girl is that of the most precious human being in the world. She is untainted, she can create life, she can make others in the world change their lives solely by existing. She is a god to men. She is god.

I dont think I was smart enough to get that manga. this was the first of his manga that stumped me. it just seemed like he was trying to find an excuse to draw little naked girls.

This goes back to my original question about whether kitoh is actually a nihilist or is just interested in using the ideology in his stories. I'm not really sure but everything Ive read of his has nihilistic aspects in it and that cant be a coincidence.

I wont discuss bokurano but for those that have read the whole manga Kitoh was slamming the nihilism in the reader's faces. In shadow star, naozumi sudo was pretty apathetic about everything, people, and the whole around him. he always talked about a world without hierarchies, morals, customs, etc and saw nothing wrong or right about his actions like murder and theft. I think he personified nihilism

there always seems to be a moment or two in kitoh's stories were it gets preachy - not in a bad way but it's obvious he's pushing beliefs. I mean, the entire last chapter of wings of vendemiare was about breaking away from God, morals, etc so that people (or in this case the vendemiare puppets) can 'awaken' and become 'free'. and in case the reader didnt get it, there was a 2 page spread that explained in all words what he was trying to say.

he could be an atheist........ but I think bokurano explains that away (and maybe shadow star too...)

as for the lolicon suggestion - he may be a bit of a lolicon ^_^ and if he were a nihilist he wouldnt see liking lolis as either right or wrong.
