Both shows are kinda throwbacks to 70s style super robot anime, but Gurren Langan does it with a lot more style and mordern sensiblities. Also, while GaoGaiGar is kinda a superhero story of mythological proprotions, Gurren-Lagann is a coming of age story that takes a super robot stable (drills) and turns it into a metaphor for life, that starts out as a battle for the freedom of those living underground and ends up involving all those who live in the universe, all the while Simon tries to find his own meaning and purpose in his life, and follow his destiny.GaoGaiGar on the other hand, follows  read more

Super robots, hotblooded pilots, attack name yelling, all the things that make you want to yell those attack names along with them.

While lacking the over-the-top super robot elements the King of Braves is loved for, this quieter robot show has a similar theme: The overwhelming power of teamwork and determination as displayed by the use of a massive metal humanoid.

Both GaoGaiGar and Gaiking are both Super Robot shows, one powered by courage, the other by hot blood. The similarities should be obvious.

Both series are centered around the main characters being pure heartened heroes who fight for the sake of others who also wear a gold headpiece Both have a cast of interesting, quirky heroes and bizarre villains. There is a strong emphasis on self-sacrifice and heroism in both. Both feature a heavy amount of teamwork and strategy to their fights. Both have a character/characters who use fire and ice attacks and constantly go above and beyond the call of duty for the sake of saving people. Both have rival characters who wear armor.

Both are atypical of their respective genres as they use unconventional, non-violent means for saving the day, eg GaoGaiGar uses environment altering power tools, Saint Tail uses stage magic like. Both feature long haired, redheaded mains. Are very optimistic and lighthearted in tone. Both have a very classical symphony soundtrack. They also have religious themes or terms that play a role in the story or events, such as Meimi praying before becoming St Tail and GaoGaiGar's Hell and Heaven involving a prayer like hand clasping. Both heroes need the assistance of a female who waits in a bulding in order to turn into their titular form/persona Both  read more

Good Alien robots protect children from evil alien robots attempting to take over the universe.

Gaist crusher is like a paraody of GaoGaiGar, instead og GGG, it is GCG, the comanders are really simler with over the top posses, and they both have grown ups depending on kids to save people. The kid has special powers in both, and there are a lot of laughs.

Both are shows with action scenes that revolve around combining robots, hot-blooded action and flashy finishing attacks. Also, SSSS.Gridman constantly homages the Brave series: the mecha franchise where Gaogaigar comes from.

Nekketsu Mecha Adventures with mega cosmic battles ! Both anime are some of the more NEKKETSU ever made !

Before Tengen Toppa and in response to the drama of EVA, GaoGaiGar was there. If you like robots, overly animated transformation sequences, and can stand a somewhat episodic design and child characters, and are looking for a less gritty experience give GaoGaiGar (and GGG Final) a shot.

Shinkansen is very similar to a lot of brave series in general, but it has a lot of similarities to GaoGaiGar in particullar, since its the newest of the Braves. The Brave formula clearly applies to Shikansen, and it gives it a very nice nostaligc feel.

The member of a royal family uses an ancient power to activate ancient robots that are used to do battle in space. Gaogaigar is a super robot series and AZ is a real robot anime. But they're both very enjoyable.

Both are anime from the brave series created by Takara and Sunrise, both involve sentient and transforming robots. J-Decker is like a kiddified super robot version of Patlabor. GaoGaiGar is your classic super robot, with, over the top fights, drills and lion chests and manly yelling.

If You liked Giant Robots Fightig form the human world this is another good anime, epic, carismatical caracters and a lot of mecha

GaoGaiGar is pretty much Sailor Moon with mecha. Yes, the same uninspired transforming footage used over and over again, a new baddie sent out by the evil empire each week to defeat with the trademark finishing move as well as an "alien" human from space living with a family on earth with no recollection of what happened before he/she came to earth.

Despite both being '90s mecha anime, they're not exactly similar -- and that's the point. Evangelion is well-known for having deconstructed the tropes of the mecha genre as they had been traditionally presented to that point, and doing so with unrestrained brutality. GaoGaiGar came about in the immediate aftermath in part as a reaction to this, consciously reconstructing the genre tropes and traditions to show that, even with their potential shortcomings having been highlighted, they can still be assembled into a fine series.

In Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! people with negative emotions get "zunderized" and turn in weird bizarre monsters. Which once saved by the good guys they are filled with love and happiness. In GaoGaiGar people with negative emotions get "zonderized" and get turned into weird bizarre robots and mechs. Which once save by the good guys they are filled with love and happiness.

Both Yuusha Mecha filled with power, conbinations and great yells (same seiyuu for the main character) a lot of action is a anime that all mecha fans sould have in their list.

GaoGaiGar followed Dagwon in the Yuusha series, hardly heard of outside of Japan. Fans of GaoGaiGar, who are willing to watch Dagwon without subs (I've watched it all raw, and despite knowing next to no Japanese, I can still follow most of the story.) will love the show. It's got the same mecha design, and a rather similar story, though, like GaoGaiGar, it starts off "monster of the week" for a while. The art style, mecha aside, is rather different from that of GaoGaiGar, but remains crisp and clean. All in all, Dagwon's certainly a good addition to the list of any  read more

The King of Braves GaoGaiGar was part of the Takara/Sunrise's Brave Series which helped to revive the hype for 70s style Super Robot anime during the 90s and it exaggerates to a whole new level, total hot blooded manly Gar from each of the fights and a lot of technological fanservice in the form of intricate robot designs and transformation sequences. Gundam Build Fighters magnificently references all of the previous Gundams series yet the story in itself is unique it doesn't try and be real robot but it happily includes over the top super robot action, Sunrise has cleverly snuck in references to their other Mecha  read more

Of all the other franchise entries, GGG owes the most to Da Garn, arguably the most polished Yuusha series of them all.

Dendoh was originally supposed to be a series in the Yuusha franchise, but was spun off into its own thing, and the end results are high quality. You've got the same zany humour, strange enemies and impressive action.

Comparing GaoGaiGar and Nadesico will offer two vastly different views on the Super Robot Genre of old. Whereas GGG is Super Robot show, Nadesico, through the use of the Super-Robot show-in-a-show, Gekiganger, takes the Super Robot genre and puts it in a completely different light, despite being a Real Robot show itself.

Captain Earth is a super robot show and the way Studio Bones has beautifully animated the mecha in this series really brings back memories to the 2 dimensional era of the 90s such as the best of them all; King of Braves GaoGaiGar. The Earth Engine's combination sequence gives the same pleasure as GaoGaiGar's. The plot of Captain Earth is very similar. Just as the international organization, the GGG, use robots to protect the Earth from the Zonders; shapeshifting aliens that can take the form of robots, humans and other objects, Globe uses Impacters to protect the Earth from the Kiltgang, aliens that can take the  read more
