Similar to how CCA takes place after movies, FnL takes place after the main story (movies, not the show) and deals with antagonists from their respective nations that are said to be powerful with ambitious intentions to change the world and society for better that pits the protagonists once again to stop them.

They are literally the same movie. I kid, but I think the character dynamics in Legend of the Blue Wolves are heavily inspired by Char’s Counterattack.

Both are military space opera anime, focusing on a large scale war between two opposing factions with different ideals. Both anime have a rebellious and idealistic main character (Harlock & Char), who tries to achieve his noble ambitions through extreme means. Both anime have an overall similar atmosphere, although their animation styles differ.

Sunrise is a magician when it comes to delivering conclusions that shakes your mind at it's finest days. Though Bebop is said to be better, CCA brings a closure to Amuro and Char's saga and is said to be the best Gundam movie beyond it's decade. I can smell some kind of a Spike vs Vicious between the two. Regardless both are tragic in some ways that make it compelling to watch.

Both are classic space opera anime, featuring political and military intrigue, as well as large scale battles between two opposing factions with different beliefs. In both anime, one of the main characters seeks to eliminate corruption using extreme means, both political and military. Also, the rivalry between the two male leads in both shows is quite similar. Apart from these, both anime have similar art and animation, as well as similar vibe.

This recommendation has quite common similarities between the two films: -Both are created by legends (Hayao Miyazaki & Yoshiyuki Tomino) and are considered to be classics due to their aging years since their debut -Addresses earth's pollution and human nature that shows how much of an enemy society is in their era -San and Char are misanthropists who believe in "exceptional" due to their desires and troubled past are willing to preserve their ideals to prove how distasteful humanity is along with serving as deutaroganists -Ashitaka and Amuro are kind individuals who are dragged into war trying to find a solution to peace & are the heroes of their  read more

Great sequel that honors the themes introduce in CCA while adding new stakes, characters and music.

These classical stories revolve around the corruption of mankind and see how polluted earth is due to endless wars, destruction, and negative human aspects created by the legends of their era (Hayao Miyazaki & Yoshiyuki Tomino).

what both have in common is that both are wellknown for their longrunning franchise and redefined the mecha-genre till this day (Gundam 1979-2013),( Macross 1982'-2013) and are timeless classics!

These theatrical showing serve as conclusions to their respective tv series that wraps up the majority of the conflict starting in the first episode. Though different, EoE is meant to create as an alternate ending as a proper sequel to the semi last episode of NGE whereas CCA is a follow up from the UC trilogy that consists of 0079, Zeta, and ZZ. Both are revolved around a plan (Human Instrumentality Project and Axis dropping to Earth) per antagonist's agenda (Gento wants to reunite with Yui and Char continues to follow his Zeon Zum Deikun's philosophy but in a twisted manner following the events of Zeta). It is  read more

Serie´s that both were in their PRIMETIME, Genre is on and off simmilair to eachother but both involve the sort of ´back then´the populair 1980's mecha-genre, bigtime! and runtime of both is longlasting as well!

Gilbert Durantal's actions and motives are similar to Char Aznable and they both have the same VA. The universe in each story are very similar since Seed is the remake of the original. The story is modeled after the original as well.

Rau Le Creuset's actions are similar to Char Aznable as the series progresses. Same story, same plot, Earth vs Colonies, drama, action, mecha, and similar conclusions. Quess Paraya and Flay Allster are similar in terms of character as well.

Wing is based on Universal Century and some of the elements of Char's Counterattack are incorporated into Wing. Zechs Merquise and Treize Krushrenada are similar to Char Aznable but mostly his actions and Zechs is the one who's the closest than Treize. Philosophy are similar regarding Earth and Space and those who wants to change the world through actions. OZ and UESA and colonies are more closer to being based on Zeon than Earth.

Movies with heavy environmentalist and political themes about stopping a celestial body impacting the Earth. In Char's Counterattack, Char Aznable leads the disenfranchised people living in the space colonies to another war of independence from Earth. He promotes his idea that humans will evolve if they migrate to space and uses it as justification for dropping asteroids onto the Earth as it will force mass migration. Standing in his way is the protagonist Amuro Ray who isn't as impatient as Char is. In The Orbital Children, Touya is a child living in space who is heavily discriminated against online, considered a parasite by vocal Earthers. He regurgitates  read more

Char Aznable's motive for changing earth is similar to the Dragons of Earth as Amuro Ray and Dragons of Heaven try to oppose their beliefs. Similar conclusions but not quite. Char's Counterattack is more of a war based story whereas X is a prophecy based story.

Both are set in a war that serves as a conclusion of their main stories and Kira and Amuro are trying to stop Durandal and Char from implementing their plan. There are striking parallels in both of them. Kira-Amuro Durandal-Char Talia-Nanai Murrue-Bright Noa TSA-Londo Bell ZAFT-Neo Zeon

Both films were released theatrically as well as providing insight, character interactions, action packed mecha, and humanity peace.

although Char's Counterattack and CG R2 are in a different format, if you take a close look, they are similar in some way as the story progresses. both stories are set during a war as characters Char and Lelouch fight to change the world despite having different roles and they are similar as well. The rivalry between the main characters Amuro and Char and Lelouch and Suzaku are similar.

Light and Char are extremists who are trying to end corruption through any means. The only difference is that Light is trying to create a utopia whereas Char wants to move people out of Earth.

If you'd like to see the grim epilogues of two of your favorite space operas, I highly reccomend Char's Counterattack and The Prince of Darkness. Both contain characters who are mangled versions of their former selves. They are also stories of sudden uprisings brought about by former villians. Of coarse, I am not mentioning the awesome mech battles. Any how, these two films serve their series well, retrospectively. Enjoy.
