Both shows are similar in a MOE + slice of life sort of way. In comparison K-On is slightly more mature while Lucky Star is more cartoon-ish and relies on the cute factor a whole lot more. Both shows share the same target audience.

-Both involve music even if for different reasons -Main characters are all females -They are all slice of life genres Enjoy them!

Comedic stories with a focus on music as the plot's vessel. The personalities of the characters in both animes are rather similar and the stories develop in a similar fashion. On one side, Bocchi the Rock has a somewhat more mature plot with a lesser focus on school life and a much bigger comedic impact, but both shows include many scenes bound to make anyone who enjoys music and specifically the whole aspects of live performances and a band's day-to-day lives feel really hyped. The music in both animes is amazing for anyone who likes rock, and any musicians can certainly be inspired by what they  read more

K-ON!! is an anime that clearly takes a lot of inspiration from Azumanga Daioh and resemble eachother in a lot of ways. While Azumanga is a lot more silly and K-ON is a lot more realistic, there's lots for fans of either series to enjoy. Fun, lighthearted slice of life with plenty of hilarious comedy between the characters.

-Cute girls form a high school club -Real world explanation of the equipment used in the show -Distinguishable character archetype -Building strong bonds -Relaxing atmosphere -Lots of food and chit-chatting -MOE over 9000!

Same art style with cute girls and lots of fun. Story is similar: there is no stressfull moments in these shows. You just watch them to relax. Main characters and their relationships with other people are same

Music-themed anime and manga, but much more realistic. If you like Slice of Life themes and Music anime, then you'll like this. :3

Both of these shows have similar moods, character chemistry, and mood. They have their fair share of jolly and goofy moments, but aren't afraid to get a bit serious at times. K-On is less focused on characters achieving a specific goal, but both are clearly more about the journey than the destination. Character dynamics are believable and often relatable.

The main characters (Yui from K-On and Ohana from Hanasaku) are a bit carefree, but work hard to reach their goal. Both main characters have a shy friend (nakochi and mio) and one that is sure of himself (yuina and ritsu) The opening from the both anime is similar.

While I have also recommended Hyouka for season 1 of K-On!, I feel that season 2 is the true similarity. Both series feature semi-episodic stories that build to character growth and a journey of self-discovery and friendships. They are about a small cast in school clubs, and while the club activities are different, the focus on the bonds between characters is strong in both.

Both wanted to form a club and the characters' personalities are pretty much the same. Manabi Straight= K-ON! Manami= Yui Mei=Mio Momoha=Tsumugi Mutsuki= Ritsu Mika=Azusa

Story centers around a group of girls with their daily life -both is all about friends and friendship -both are of comedy & school life -both has lovely light-hearted art and character designs

They are both comedy. Both are story about friendship and happiness. They also have the same clumsy main character. Well, if you like K-On!! you'll surely love this.
report Recommended by Einhart
There are same in baseline story about the group, although in different subject (K-On in music, Gekkan in manga). There are also same in using daily school life as supplementary baseline story. And the most important, there are same to make me laugh because their weirdo characters. Hahaha.... :D

Both feature a character so deeply fascinated by tea ceremony that it becomes almost sacred and share a main theme that is appreciation for art. Both series also excel in expressivity.

This anime is with both seiyu of Ritsu and Mio , they have approximatively the same relation but it's like they old up and became pervert. It's a really good comedy anime.
report Recommended by Kenzaro
Both are quite slow-paced slice of life comedy anime starring cute high schoolgirls.Plus, if you liked Yui you'll likely love Yasuna as well, not to mention that her friendship with Sonya slightly reminds the one between Ritsu and Mio.

They're both about girls with a big passion for music: the TeaTime band prefers pop-rock and modern instruments but Aki is into taiko, a traditional japanese drum. The two anime are completely different for duration: K-On is a long TV series (2 regular seasons with a movie) and Aki no Kanade is just a oneshot movie for the Anime Mirai Project, but they both involve a character growth and a deep reflection about time passing and social relationships (with the family, friends...), all blended with a special melancholy for the past.

They both center around a bunch of cute women, and I think they are both slice of life, and sometimes both are really weird and pointless
report Recommended by pinenarrow
-good music -really nice and cute art-style -the colors are really soft -the characters are well done -about high school students working and learning music together -given does have a more mellow vibe to it whilst K-on has a more bubbly vibe
report Recommended by Bunni_ePop
- Both anime involve music in the story, and the characters in both stories are students who attend an all-girls school - They create some good music for your playlist - Both are showing a relaxing story to fill in the gaps in time
report Recommended by jumantara
They are CGDCT with a focus on certain activities (fishing for slow loop & music for K-on). The main characters learned an appreciation for their hobby from their friends. they both share the same relaxing and wholesome environment and have amazing characters with funny dynamics that makes the shows whole and heartwarming.
report Recommended by assasinsjoe
Feel-good slice-of-life high school anime that shows (relatively) positive representations teenage girls
report Recommended by joeydean
-music or band centered -more focused on comedy and the music -the art is not similar at all
report Recommended by Bunni_ePop
They're both slices of life anime that make you happy.
report Recommended by Gamer912
These two anime is very enjoying... i said that because those anime had not much conflict in there (little much in LLS)... those anime let us flow at their activity, just like we on it too... btw, i love genre music and maybe thats the point.
report Recommended by GravesRobber
Both anime are pretty laid back, slice of life anime. If you loved Azusa, her voice actress, Taketatsu Ayana is the heroine in the Ore no Imouto series.
report Recommended by chooms
School anime surrounding 4 girls and their journey in high school. Both animes depict 4 girls in clubs doing random girl things through each episode.
report Recommended by Kanavi
You wanna see moe girls doing moe things in a slice of life style story while the characters all have a common, set goal that will (eventually) be achieved? Watch both seasons of K-On! if you're into New Game!, the premise might be slightly different, but the structure remains the same and you're still getting mini heart attacks from the overload of cuteness.
report Recommended by dat_kun4i_guy
School music clubs and character dynamics. Kono Oto Tomare! is a bit more serious, and focuses on the characters actually improving their craft, whereas K-On!! is more of a coming of age story that happens to have music as it's backdrop. But we do see performances in both, obviously in quite different genres but both enjoyable nonetheless.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Pretty much both shows are just the about everyday life. Only difference is that one takes place at work and the other takes place at school
report Recommended by imprezagc8
They both have nice stories and they both enter the world of high school life. Both animes have the same kind of feel to it. They both have groups of friends who have fun together in every episode. The only difference is that Kimi to Boku has a love story and the gang is all boys while K-on has a group of all girls.
report Recommended by connielas
Both settings are mostly in a school environment with comedy but this anime is more of a perverted comedy
report Recommended by xvicxpx
Both are very funny. The animes follow 4 girls and how their personalties are all unique.
report Recommended by gnoodles
The relationship between the pairs of sisters Yui and Ui, on the one hand, and Tenma and Yakumo, on the other, is very similar, as well as their personalities.
report Recommended by grklein
-Both anime's animation look really similar because they are created by the same character designer (Yukiko Horiguchi) and they both surround school life, comedy, drama, slice of life, as the story focuses on their daily life in their respective clubs. Only difference is that K-ON's story focuses on comedy and the daily life of a group of girls, while Kokoro Connect focuses on drama/romance.
report Recommended by MagicFlier
Cute, light-hearted fun devoid of the usual otaku pandering common in anime today. The characters are treated with respect and are not rampantly sexualised. You will not enjoy either of these if you want the complex or the serious, but if you can enjoy a girl's show, they are two of the very best.
report Recommended by Veronin
Both look like stupid moeblob but end up as very funny and touching.
report Recommended by ninryu
Four girls, slice of life/school, funny atmosphere. I prefer K-ON!!, but, Hyakko is very good, too. Also, characters are similar Ayumi Nonomura - Yui Hirasawa (Yui is not so shy, though) Torako Kageyama - Ritsu Tainaka Saotome Suzume - Mugi / Mio
report Recommended by gupipy
The plot wasn't really similar (in K-On, it's about a band, and in Chihayafuru, it's about competitive karuta), but it still had the same atmosphere. Both main characters are similar in some ways. They both have a dream they want to achieve (in K-On, it's playing in a band, in Chihayafuru, it's to become the karuta Queen). They're both cheerful and air-headed. Also, in both anime, a few friends start a club and try to get more members (they're not always successful though).
report Recommended by xpaula
Quite a bit of the comedy in K-On!! reminds me of Joshiraku. It's a bit less gag-like, but the mood is still similar. Both are about a group of girls, one in a light music club, the other working rakugo performers. They are both primarily about the activites they get up to outside of actually performing, though K-On!! does have several performances as well. If you want to watch people goofing off and "practicing" their craft, these are both enjoyable.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Obviously both are about school clubs, one being a light music club and the other being an astronomy/geology club. Asteroid focuses more on the actual club activities, K-On!! does a lot more goofing around, but both convey the moods of their clubs well. If you want something easy to watch that's fun and enjoyable, both are good.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Both are about a group of girls in a school club. They convey the moods of these clubs perfectly. They are cozy, funny, and generally very enjoyable. Some of the humor and character dynamics are quite similar as well. K-On!! has more of a focused story, Houkago Teibou Nisshi is more episodic. Houkago Teibou Nisshi goes into more detail about the actual club activity, explaining the details of each method of fishing, whereas K-On!! takes a bit more of a laid-back approach to it's craft (fitting given the character personalities).
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Both anime have the "school club" theme and have girls playing as the main role.
report Recommended by kururugikai
These are two series that can be quite relaxing and quite funny. They feature a cast of girls in a music club and men working at a cafe, but the group dynamics in both are believable and enjoyable. Characters bounce off each others differences very well. They are both somewhat episodic with similar themes of self-discovery and friendship running throughout.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
If you took the graduation part of K-On!! and stretched it out to a full series, added a love pentagon and a bit more drama, and took away the guitars, you would have Just Because!. Well, that might be a stretch, but the moods are certainly similar. K-On!! is much more comical, but when it's time for the emotions to hit they both do it wonderfully. Good group dynamics in both.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Two music anime about school music clubs. (Though in Tari-Tari it's a bit more than just a music club). They are ultimately about a group of people brought together by the club and learning to become friends. The moods are quite similar in both, featuring plenty of cozy, funny, and heartwarming scenes. Lots of character drama.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Two school clubs featuring an all-girl/all-boy cast. Good character dynamics, great mood, and fantastic animation. The characters in Free! take things much more seriously, dealing with internal conflicts of careers, their future with the sport, etc. K-On!! focuses more on the journey and an uncertain and uncaring attitude. Both groups mesh well together and watching their growth as characters is enjoyable.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Obviously these have similarities as two music-based KyoAni works. Similar moods at times, though K-On!! can be a bit goofier. Both are about high school kids in bands, one being a concert band and the other being a pop band. Good character chemistry, very good facial animations and reactions. Obviously good music, though I would argue the actual background OST of Euphonium is better.

people are roccomending Girls und Panzer for the first season of K-ON.. so I put the second, because there is Azusa in the cover (5-5 people, hehe) okay, let's start it... why I recomend K-ON to Girls und Panzer? first, the main character... Yui and Miho are seems to be so much clumsy, but Miho is more clever and Yui is more talented second, the group... in the case of Girls und Panzer, the school... they start the competition from the very beginning, step by step they hardly pushed their effort to become the greatest of all... third, item that the girls are using... isn't it interesting that you  read more
