I've compiled a list of show with queer characters, queer-coded characters, queer relationships, or characters outside the gender binary.

The BL anime included are labelled 'unproblematic', 'partly problematic', 'problematic', and 'fujoshi bait' to better help you find something to your liking. Those labels mainly refer to how healthy the relationships depicted are, and whether those relationships are explicitly romantic.

This includes Shojo, Josei, and BL, and (what I think to beSeinen, and Shounen.

The Shounen and Seinen ones are only the shows which I think are more aimed at a female audience (like having a female protagonist and a hot guy love interest).

Also some new shojo that will be airing over the next 1-2 years. I'm so happy that there are new shoujos / female-targeted series coming out instead of just more Shounen romance 😭.

Solo Leveling definitely led the way with the most pre-season hype, but out of nowhere, Gushing Over Magical Girls has produced a ton of reaction after the first episode aired.

As a person in their twenties, I get a little frustrated with how many romance shows focus on high school students. To help combat this frustration, here is a list of romance anime (or anime that feature romance) with an adult cast.

this has nothing to do with how good I felt the shows were, just that it is a romance with an adult cast.

this is one of my favorite niche genres, so I wanted to compile them for you.

placement in the list has nothing to do with whether the show is good, just has to do with the psychic status of the main character.

Boys love titles with manga, anime and live-action adaptations (TV series, movie, and/or stage play).

Note: Only titles adapted to all three mediums (and BLCD or audio drama) are included in this stack. will not include any Nakamura BL anime because they're all problematic, repetitive, low-hanging fruit and the definition of homophobic and gay at the same time.
