"Utawarerumono" is one of the many other works of Japanese fantasy to have been inspired by the "Guin Saga". The similarities are obvious ^^

Both set in a world full of conflict, unlike our own and following the rise and fall of nations. Lots of Medieval / Ancient Chinese Fantasy world themes.

The same epic fantasy atmosphere.

Animes about political and military struggles with lots of intrigues and with the same fantasy atmosphere.

Both are epic fantasy anime from spring season 09. Both are about siblings fighting a war they didn't start. Both pair of siblings have royal blood in their veins, and are aided by a magical creature (Guin/Lord Arawn). Both female leads are some kind of prophets and sorceresses. Tears to Tiara contains a few fragments of comedy, which makes it slightly less dramatic than Guin Saga. But both anime are great entertainment and if you enjoy one of them, then you should be able to enjoy both.

They are both based on epic fantasy novel series with historical elements, rise and fall of kingdoms, magic, politics, wars, heroics; both stories are influenced more by Persian epics rather than Japanese or Asian influences

Jyu Oh Sei and Guin Saga are very similar in the sense that both of the stories' characters resemble a character from the other. Both series are based on survival of the fittest, and are full action packed adventures leaving you with the wanting for more after every episode.

And of course I'd also suggest the Guin Saga, because the hero is pretty much a combination of Berserk's Guts' with Guin's Guin and generally the story draws heavily from Guin's saga in many points

Both fantasy, both set in fictional worlds, in boths our heroes become main characters almost by accident, there is some serious world-building in both series. Protagonists must overcome great deal of danger. There is difference in art style, and Lodoss is closer to high fantasy genre, where Guin is closer to Conan-like (sword and sandals) fantasy.

Guin Saga is similar to Berserk in that the main protagonist is a hulk of a warrior that fights for their allies in a medieval setting . This anime in particular focuses more on the world building and politics of the world more than Berserk does.

Nobuo Uematsu works on soundtrack, and both are in the genre of fantasy.

A strong male lead that never capitulates to his enemies. He finds a group of people he can rely on and eventually fights for. Guin takes on the burden of this story's heroine as a current paradigm shift happens within the context of the story. Guin happens to be one of the only reliable characters in the show and likewise. Is a paragon that others flock to, to get their problems fixed. Give it a watch.

The sheme of Naris tricked Amnelis is the same for Soo-Won and Yona. There is a princess who loves a prince, but prince doesn't love her - he ruins all she treasured. So, she cuts her hair, raises up from her knees and helps her country. And in both cases she has a loyal servant beside. Also there are pirates in the stories, fantasy, unnatural strength for certain person, the chosen one, and many adventures.

Like Casshern, Guin the main character, is amnesiac and looks for the thruth about him.

Both have an overpowered protagonist with selective amnesia that is trying to figure out who he was and why he has the head of another animal.

To me, Overlord does not feel like an anime where it's a game within a game type of setting. I viewed it more as a fantasy anime. Overlord and Guin Saga both have overpowered heroes who save the day.

Both have a mixture of complex political intruiges and large scale sword & spear era battles all revolving around larger-than-life charasimactic characters.

Both anime have a story revolved around a man who is stuck wearing an animal mask. Hi no Tori features a 4-episode arc about a man whose head was replaced by a wolf's head. Guin Saga is a longer tale about a man with a leopard's head. These stories also take a serious approach to solving political affairs within an engaging, old-kingdom fantasy setting.

Both series deal with an epic saga of war, politics and friendship that span across a large period of time. Although Guin Saga is incomplete (only the first 16 novels of 130+ is animated for now) while LOGH if 110 episodes long with spanning sidestories. Guin Saga is essentially a fantasy version of LOGH, which falls into the category of space opera.

Both series have two female main characters that happen to be of royal blood on opposing sides of a brewing war, and both anime begin with the invasion/destruction of the main character's homeland.

They are both based on Epic Fantasy novel series', and in both cases their anime adaptations cover only a portion of the source material. Common elements include magic, politics, assassins and unbeatable lead characters.

At first glance these anime have no similarity. But now that I have finished Guin Saga I found myself reminded of Hanasekeru Seishounen quite often. Both have policital and romance elements as well as action and adventure, also both are well written stories that keep your attention. I couldn't stop watching either until I had reached the end and both left me satisfied. If you enjoyed Guin Saga you will likely enjoy Hanasakeru as well but be aware it will take a few episodes of Hana to start seeing what an amazing anime it is. It's one of those plots that whisks you away in a  read more

Really similar series, a magic world in warfare. They are two groups of adventurers for different reasons, but they have too really similar kings. Im surprised that it is not in the list.

I believe its similar with the family revenge and the long journey to meet friends along the way. They are both about land and war and time settings is similar.

In both series, there is a theme of adventure and fantasy taking place in a world of cruelty, power, and dominance. There is a plenty of action, drama, and some romance presented in both series. The main protagonist from both series are also tough and cunning with the things they do. Both series' characters also focuses on development as well as interactions with others throughout the course of the story. It is through these relationships that they learn more about themselves and others.
