Ga-Rei: Zero

One girl snap at her best friend for absolutely no good reason. Then they fight. Relationship-wise, both can be implied as shoujo-ai. I heard all the times that maiden heart work in mysterious ways. Positively looking this two shows just portray it to the extreme. Ga-rei zero do include why the fight is unavoidable in an interesting non-chronological fashion. BRS however is written in the way that assume audience know everything, making the show sort of a fan fare. 

Just by watching the very first episode of Elfen Lied and Ga - Rei - Zero you will see why I said these seem similar. The graphic violence, female leads, ecchi scenes, supernatural powers, and special force teams. They share the same feel and seem to have good twists. Elfen Lied was a masterpiece so I expect a lot from this one. 

Both are full of action, and have a great story. There's a strong relationship between the 2 main characters, you can almost say they really love each other. Yuri-like, but it's not yuri at all. The character development in both these anime will make you cry. They both have a strong first and second episode, followed by one of the most sad endings. If you liked the one, you'll definitely like the other. 

Both share a similar plot, where two girls build up a very close relationship, and then one of them becomes a bit naughty. Yuri fans should love both of these series. 

Both series focus around a couple of people who have a strong friendship bond and would do anything to help each other until something or someone else interferes, with the resulting actions causing an immediate shift from strong friendship to hatred. Similar storyline about the hunting of evil spirits and corpses that brings about death and decay to the land. The female lead in Shikabane is very similar to Yomi in Ga-Rei Zero, both in personality and skill. 

Supernatural dark-themed catfight with casualties. The timing of event is so well done you will be surprised and can't wait-until-next-week. Kickass combat keep you glued to your seat when the next-week finally comes. Entire lesbian casts keep you sealed to your seat once more when the next next episode come. And finally when the next next next week come once again, here come explicit confession of lesbianship on air, which once more stick you to your seat. Short summary? Explicit Yuri (lesbian) attitudes, beautiful combat sequences, girls politic presented unlike your average Sex and the City catfight, great screenplay, and well timed stories will keep you glued to your seat throughout the season. Girl with a Sword fighting off evil monster that attack humankind, struggling with the truth and loved ones around her. In my eyes its almost exactly like Ga-Rei: Zero. You could almost call them sisters. 

it has the same feel to it...with organizations and fight scenes...not to mention the supernatural powers 

There is the use of Familiars, both include exorcising creatures. 

Both are action packed dramas with gore, deep plots twists, and lead characters fighting off demons with powerful hend held weapons. 

Surprised no one already recommended this anime. Similarities include gratuitous violence, strong overly attractive female leads, zombies and the like. A must see if you like HS of the dead. 

Both anime are dark, tragic tales revolving around warriors who find themselves struggling to abandon compassion in order to become more efficient fighters while at the same time clutching onto the few people they still love. The protagonists in both anime also end up having to face a dilemma in which they have to choose between duty and love. Finally, both anime serve as preludes to series that end up being much more lighthearted in tone than what you saw in said preludes.

Both are about paranormal activity in Japan. 

Both series are really amazing and worth watching. For those who have seen or are familiar with Naruto, Ga-Rei has a similar character relationship as Naruto and Sasuke where these two kids develop a close bond like brothers (in Ga-Rei its sisters) and one turns against the other, forcing one to kill the other. Other than that, there is a lot of fighting and action.  

Shares the same director, and are both prequels that tells you about the tragedies that occurred to the main characters before the event of the original series. Great animation, story, and heart-wrenching moments. 

Both of these animes have two female characters as the main characters. They are also relatively close. 

They both have close-knit groups fighting to save the world as well as very tragic undertones, such as broken trust and betrayal. Both have a dark atmosphere and underground organizations of sorts. Annd to add icing to the cake, Yomi bears a striking physical resembelance to Arashi, while Kagura seems very much like Yuzuriha both in personality and looks, as well as age and pocky-loving. 

The first two episodes and the last few of Ga-Rei are VERY similar to Straight Jacket. Both government sponsored and outlaw groups fighting demons that used to be human. Ga-Rei, however, has significantly more light-hearted-ness to it in the middle episodes.  

Teenage girl soldiers lose everything and find themselves confronting a loved one as the enemy. Both shows feature misleading first episodes, strong character arcs, and brutal battles where anyone can die. Both also feature occasional bouts of gratuitous nudity and shallow yuri fanservice, which may be a minor bonus or a minor annoyance, depending on taste. 

In a way, I feel that both series are a bit related to each other. Both series has two prominent female characters as the main characters. In addition, they possesses supernatural abilities of their will. Both series has a mystery like feeling to them along with drama, action, and some thriller like endings. Both series also holds secrets regarding one of the main female characters as a prominent plot device. 

A bait-and-switch first episode (first two episodes in TE's case) and the fact that anyone can die in the gritty setting is in both series. Both have an alien (not in the extraterrestrial sense) force that humans fight against but MLA: TE obviously goes in a different direction with the mecha/mecha and mecha/alien combat while GR: Z is human/supernatural combat. 

Both have people who can summon demons to fight as well as plenty of death. They also have similar settings taking place mostly in cites.

At first glance you may think they are totally different but both series are a nice mix of drama, action, fantasy, comedy and a bit of romance. Also, both are shows where every single chapter is important for the story and both are masterpieces in my opinion. Ga-Rei Zero has much less episodes, though 

Both anime have a large focus on action and go about investigating the opinions and relationships of their cast, while the plot involves an organisation hunting down supernatural disturbances. The Towa no Quon series differs with an X-men-like feel to as the plot investigates the theme of prejudice against the humans who have awaken with supernatural abilities, as an organisation attempts to hunt down and eliminate what they see as threats, while the opposing side attempts to save and keep these people from harm. While Ga-Rei: Zero differs with the cast hunting down and eliminating supernatural creatures, while it also goes to showcase the complex relationship of sisterhood between its two central characters. If your a big fan of the mix between big action and humane stories, I'm willing to bet you'll love both series.  read more 

I binge watched all of Ga-Rei: Zero in a single day, and while I was watching I thought about how much it has in common with the movie series The Garden of Sinners, from the supernatural elements evoking mystery and horror, and how these affect the people dealing with them. Furthermore, both of the series' sets of protagonists handle these supernatural cases in a criminal justice sort of way as their jobs. While I felt Kyoukai handled some of the philosophical elements with more depth, due in part to the longer runtime, I loved both and would highly recommend them! 

Both mix elements of Japanese folklore with a modern environment, with a government organization that uses swords to fight evil spirits. Both feature female protagonists, with the friendship between the two main girls being in focus. If you like the dark action in one, the other might suit your tastes. 

Both series have a military force/government agency that is fighting against monsters. Also both series have romantic relationship between the main characters. Also both (Blue Gender far more) have sci fi elements. 

Similar premise, cute girls fighting demonic monsters in modern Japan while working for a government agency. So far Toji no Miko is cuter and less gorey but faster paced. 

Both include a katana wielding main character who has to fill her “destiny”. Paranormal entities and a sense of mystery that unveils in the final episodes. 

Both shows have a very similar feeling with high-school-age girls (with similar designs) fighting in similar urban settings. They fight against unknown forces and are trying to restore balance and save people. Both are seinen and have plenty of drama between the main characters and the groups they work for. 

The animation style is the same if not identical Some of the characters in Ga rei zero are in tokyo ESP and vice versa The two animes take place in the same world at roughly the same time There is a lot of violence in both along with the depressing themes that you would see in Ga rei zero Overall these two anime feel very similar so if you like on you would also like the other. 

Ga-Rei and Zombie-Loan have similarities by hunting spiritual stuffs 

-Both stories revolve a team of specialists who deal with baddies -Both follow the development of a rookie girl in the team -Both follow the same plot direction as far as characters go -Both have pretty good action scenes -Both have characters you get attached to -Both have a really dark atmosphere 

Both are surprisingly dark anime that juxtapose the lives of normal teenage girls and putting them in brutal fights and situations no one should ever be a part of. The action is great and fluid in both and leave viewers with food for thought at the end.  

Could be Black Bullet Season 2! Jokes.. Immediately during episode 1 it felt like I'm watching Black Bullet. Not to mention a Yomi (Ga Rei Zero) could mind as well be Kisara in the future due to how black bullet made her look like an evil person during the end of Black Bullet. Similar : - Demonic Monsters (Stage 1,2,3, etc) with demonic sounds - Groups fighting against them as a team - Girls with Swords - Yomi=Future Kisara?!(They look soo alike and pretty sure I can fool people by saying Yomi is Kisara 3 years down the road when she turns "evil" if you will) - Mysterious shady guy. Quite similar in theme actually, humans appointed by their government to fight against paranormals as if they're the only ones who could do it. Also the feel of both anime are the same. 

Ga Rei is like F/SN drama, romans and they are both fantasy. I hope that they who watched Fate would like Ga Rei ^^ 

Ga-rei is more bloody and violent, while KNS is more romance, but the two share a plot of action/supernatural, where the main girl fights with a sword against evil spirits/demons.  

They both screw with you right from the get-go. Where Ga-Rei becomes somewhat normal after the first two episodes, Higurashi just keeps it up all the way to the finish line without ever stopping. 

Both series involve exorcists dealing with evil with a female as the main protagonist. However, Ghost Hunt takes a more traditional approach as opposed to fighting evil with swords, etc. But both are great series for supernatural suspense and action. 

In both series the protagonists have a deep bond with each other, there are no humorous or funny scenes, the art is alike and both of them are telling the struggle against the inevitable fate (cast by family quarrel). [Unlike RxJ, it has some gore like Blood+]. 

Both contain two strong female protagonists with a strong bond, are highly skilled for combat fighting (high action), end up fighting against one another, and they're both pretty gory animes. Kagura also closely resembles one of the main female characters in Noir Certain tracks/songs are also similar with the siren-like voices.  

If you are new to anime, a.k.a. "I watched Naruto and now I'm a big fan of anime" you won't see much similarity in this. But if you know certain term such as shoujo-ai or yuri you will know what i'm talking about. My guess is that 99% of people on this web know it. So if you don't, why are you even here? If you want to turn back now is the time. The two shows are similar because they are imagination-enhancing to men and leses. The dependent girl and her best friend is another common scenario suitable for yuri relationship to take place. The story in both anime revolves around teenage girls who live their stereotypical highschool lives full of yuri tendencies and word jokes, all the while fighting evil monsters which seem to flood both worlds for no apparent reason. The most striking similarity between the two shows is the use of spiritual beasts in battle, known as Ga-Rei in Ga-Rei Zero, and Childs in Mai-HiME. The twist in both stories is that soon, things start to get serious - main characters start to die, friends battle to the death and angst ensues. On top of these similarities, Ga-Rei also seems to rip some characters completely from Mai-HiME, but frankly, Ga-Rei Zero offers the most convincing drama in my opinion. read more 

Both involves hunting supernatural beings in an ultramodern city. Both GA-rei and Karas has outstanding animation. If you enjoy non-stop gun and blade-wielding action, you will probably like the two series. Warning that both series have a rather twisted plot that is hard to grasp at first.  

I find that Yomi and Ai have alot in common in their personalities, how they feel about their companions, and also having their destiny taken over by something incredibly evil but yet having some power in stopping it in a way. Hate leads to no good. 

Two series centered on exorcists defending humanity from supernatural beings. Jujutsu Kaisen is essentially a traditional shounen: training scenes, power scaling, naming techniques, mentors, fighting arcs, etc. It is a great anime, but it is still formulaic. Ga-Rei-Zero has an equal amount of action, but its heartbeat is the relationship between Kagura and Yomi. It is likely most remembered for its shocking opening episodes that rivals Elfen Lied and Goblin Slayer, but unlike them Ga-Rei-Zero delivers on its expectations. The years have not been favourable to Ga-Rei-Zero, which has not been able to build its fanbase compared to Elfen Lied despite being a better anime. It is very much a hidden gem.  read more 

They both have a similar premise. If you've watched one, you can expect to have the same feeling at the end of episode 1 of either series. In other words: don't get attached. A lot of blood, gratuitous flesh-flying-everywhere action, weird monsters, and oddly placed fanservice that didn't feel quite right being shoe-horned in, but it's there. 

It involves evil spirits and summons as well. The down side is, the plot may not be as fantastic as Ga Rei Zero 

This anime is also about the organization, which fights with evil spirits and kills daemons. 

They both include interesting supernatural elements and beings, also there's a lot of fantasy. 

Both have large secret government organisations as the protagonists trying to defend the world against strange beings. Both are tragic as many things go wrong and each look at the main characters inner flaws and subsequent conquering (Yomi’s inner resentment of Kagura and shinji’s cowerdice). Both of these are extremely well made stories with a great mix of action and plot. 

The tension between yomi and kagura really reminds me of Naruto and Sasuke, especially the fight at the end, which in both animes the characters fight because of their love and care towards each other. The storyline isn't similar at all though, so you won't feel too bored watching one after the other.  

In both series we watch the road stories where the good main characters was turn into the merciless villains. 

I love this two for the same reasons, the chbaracters and the story, are rough and sweet in the same time 

Lots of Hardcore females committing brazen acts of murder. Tons of Blood, Violence, and Action.  

Both are about people, who fights ith evil spirits. Both have two main heroins who were close for a long time(you even could find some yuri allusions) but became rivals because of influance of some evil supernatural being. In both begining of the story are 3 series, while 1 and 2 includes later developments  

At first, both these animes have a similar drama component: in order to do their duty main characters have to kill their loved ones, however in Ga-Rei Zero drama is payed more atention to and is more deep than in DTB. Both these series deal with organisations exterminating threats to the mankind (ghosts in GRZ case and contractors in DTB case). Sure thing there are mystical powers and supernatural abilities included. Also, you will feel painfully sorry for main characters whichever you watch. In case you watched DTB only because of action and fights, it's unlikely you will like GRZ. There is action (actually, half of the series is swordsfighting), but it is drenched with main character's emotions and incertitude . But if you have nothing against adversaries trying to resolve an agonizing dilemma of fighting against their ex-friends, you will definetely enjoy it. read more 

Both involve exorcists fighting against akuma/demons. Also the main antagonists in the two series are similar, both causing the disturbance of peace by producing/exciting akuma/demons. 

Both of these anime are similar that to them there is a theme of fighting arts. Accordingly similar technics (liberation of mythical essences, etc.). The main characters in them - girls. At all not having thoroughbred relationship the main characters all equally become the friend for the friend as sisters. And in desire to protect the favourite and dear person, heroines will go on everything even if it will cost it of a life...  

While Shakugan no Shana is less serious than Ga-rei Zero, they both deal with the concept of keeping balance to the world by eliminating the beings that throw it off. In both, there are instances where personal feelings get in the way of duty and responsibility. 

Arika and Nina have the same type of relationship with Kagura and Yomi respectively. First friends, then enemies. Both animes have the same amount of bad assery, comedy, and wonderful art. The fighting scenes are both commendable and gets you pumped up!
