Yu☆Gi☆Oh! 5D's

Aside from also dealing with card games, 5D's is generally more serious than it's predecessor, yugioh GX. This is similar to Brave which is more serious than the anime before it, Battle Spirits Shounen Gekiha Dan. 

Similar style of story, supernatural powers, shinigami reference, and antagonists of each main arc whose role are identical. Not to mention that the main characters Yusei and Ichigo both are powerful who is essential to saving the world from evil. 

STARDUST DRAGON! 00 RAISER! SHOOTING SONIC AND 00 RAISER! Just like their previous seasons, the world is saved but through a twisted way all thanks to a secret organization who used their pawns to change the impact. Yusei and Setsuna must fight for the sake of the future and everybody through their supernatural powers. 

Yusei and Lelouch live in an ordinary life in areas that are under oppression (Satellite and Area 11) only to involve a bigger journey where they form their teams (Team 5Ds and Black Knights) to change the world. 5ds and CG have plot twists, thrilling moments, sad and depressing themes, action, and morality that will keep you on your toes in all times just like I have. Note that Aki looks just like Kallen! Rival is the same as well as their cast. 

Both series involve the future, especially an post apocalyptic one (though for 5Ds, it was more of an alternate future). Both MCs really have a strong resolve as a character, but were often held back by their own self-doubts. They also both have a big friend circle, as well as have had involvement with security guards/police in one way or another. In both worlds, technology-related transportation means everything to the people in their respective series. In 5Ds, Riding Duels mean so much in terms of pride and freedom, while in Darling in the FranXX, having the ability to ride a mecha means everything to the young kids; otherwise, if one doesn't have that ability, they are "worthless". The Seven Sages of APE are ominous characters with a very antagonistic feel to them, similar to the Dark Signers and Yliaster...the Sages even look strikingly reminiscent to Yliaster. The Kyoryu / klaxosaurs bear a good number of similarities to the Earthbound Gods and the Crimson Dragon. The five pairs of main characters pilot the five unique FranXX mechas...this kind of role and setup feels parallel to the main Five Signers and their respective ace dragons (though Lua from 5Ds turned out later as a sixth Signer). Zero Two and Akiza's respective situations are not really far off; they both have special abilities and powers that made them very dangerous as individuals, especially from the early get-go; however, they are both truly unable to really "fly" on their own...moreover, they both needed the MC to be able to overcome and exit their out-of-control state. For the most part, both friend groups in their respective series really know how to get along with each other very well, save for a few individuals. read more 

the first 12 episode of 5Ds is so much similar to votoms, the main character in each anime for different reasons had been chased by group (5ds: security votoms; army), and they shares the same calm and cool personality, and they had been betrayed by someone they didn't expect. 

Their world and main protagonists are very similar. Even the way that the characters talk about the plot devices and set up the stakes are very similar. If you're looking for a sillier, shounen version of this series that goes in all kinds of crazy directions after the tournament, then this is what you're looking for. 

Both series revolve around the concept of time to fix things that were there from the start. Note that there is a dark tone within each messages unveiled from episode to episode that will shock you as if it was a rollercoaster. 

The Signers and Masters have whats in common: marks and fictional servants either a monster or a warrior. The Dark Signers Arc is identical to the Holy Grail War due to gathering number of warriors to fight for the ultimate prize and sacrifices are made in order to achieve that certain goal. Catchy dialogues and action pack occur throughout the story that affects the pacing towards the conclusion. The main difference is that 5Ds is shonen but is darker and mature than it's predecessors and its current successor whereas Fate Zero is seinen due to violence.  

One of the Dark Signers members has a spider sign and that reminds me of the Spider Logo. HxH and 5ds have aspects: action, thrill, suspense, fast pace, and awesome moments that will catch your attention in each show. Characters desire to become stronger by overcoming obstacles in battles, tournaments, and other methods. 

Yugioh 5D's is noted to have traits similar to FF7 due to several reasons: -Steam Punk Setting -Supernatural Powers -Band of Characters -Enemy that will hunt the main character down as foils 

JUNK WARRIOR! GUNDAM EXIA! 5Ds was made around the time 00 aired and you can see the obvious similarities in both shows. 00 is purely mature whereas 5ds is partly mature. Yusei and Setsuna are alike as well as their gang and rival. 5ds cast and CB fight to save the day to battle an ancient conspiracy organization who hide behind the scenes to take down the world.  

As GX and Eva are the deconstruction, 5D's and Gurren Lagann are the reconstruction of their genres bringing back the sense and feeling of the tropes that are brought back together. Both start off light hearted but contrastingly they get darker. The Ark Cradle Arc resembles that of Gurren Lagann. 

Despite the differences, the setting as comparing between the shows is in the city where humans fight with supernatural powers from supremacy. K deals mostly with clans whereas 5D's involves humans with signs that originated from their respective cards. 

Yusei and Hei are silent protagonists who live a daily life fulfilling their duties with the aid of powerful allies but for the most part the story revolves a lot with their past in a similar setting only to lead to a conclusion which will lead them to a bigger journey. 

Action packed and story crazy at the same time with an awesome team in each show! Soundtrack in Claymore is incomparable except that some osts in 5ds are alike. Stoic protagonists must fight in order to change and develop. 

The design of the motorcycles in YGO 5D's are inspired by Akira. They also share a similar setting (dystopian cyberpunk city) and some futuristic elements. Both have a pretty dark atmosphere (especially Akira). 

Protags in both shows start off as low class individuals with talent trying to gain respect of everyone. At the same time both are victorious in all of their battles while forming unbroken friendships. The feeling of futuristic theme in both shows give off a similar vibe as well. 

Although their not similar in content, they are similar in execution and style... So basically, if Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's was a magical girl anime, it would be Heartctach Precure! (And vise-versa.) Shounen and Mahou Shoujo are different genre, but good in anime and quality. -Both have awesome and over-the-top battle sequences. -Both have the "Determination" thing going on. -Both play their genres straight, but in a good way. -Both have simple plots that are executed very well. -Both have great characters that make you want them to persevere. -Both share very funny comedic moments. -Both have heartwarming moments. -Both have emphasis on teamwork. -Both are darker than the previouse series (Yu-Gi-Oh GX and Fresh Precure) -Both explored death - Both have mature characters (Cure Moonlight and Jack Atlas) read more 

Both series have the same Director. Both shows present a cast of lovable characters with them feeling alive and understanding the reality of the world. Both shows feel true to thier goals, but Arc-V is much more realistic than 5D's. Both shows are great for anyone looking for that don't act like morons and go overtop. They both share Synchro summoning and even coexited. They even start off pretty great and have really memorable scenes and don't go treat the viewers like jerks.  

Both shows main villains are 3 people For 5D's it's Yliaster (Jose, Placido and Lucciano) For Shinkalion ( Genbu, Byakko and Seiryuu)  

Both shows are reconstruction on the previous series deconstructed. I can't help but draw parallels between Yusei and Jack with Ryoko and Satsuki. 

Both series reconstruct what the previous series deconstructed and with no contrast, similarities occur especially the main character and plot. 

Both Yugioh 5Ds and RahXephon are reconstructions of specific things - 5Ds is a reconstruction of the Yugioh anime series (which had been deconstructed in GX), and RahXephon is a reconstruction of the Mecha genre (which had been deconstructed in Neon Genesis Evangelion). Also, I can't help but compare Yusei Fudo with Ayato Kamina (when Ayato is in a positive mood, anyway). 

Both Naruto Shippuden and Yugioh 5D's are dark installments that are about shonen protaganists who is powerful and ends up getting stronger to protect their friends they value the most while shouldering the fate of the world that is waiting for them. At the same time they have feuds regarding the past, family relations, and what awaits them. 

Masaoki Endoh composed both shows (08th MS Team for an opening and 5Ds for an opening/insert songs). Though not exactly alike, they are mature enough to cater an older audience for such taste in their respective franchise. 

Both are dark take on their respective series and take place in a post apocalyptic setting. Yusei and Casshern are similar in terms of personality and are willing to protect their friends as well as finding a way to establish from the very sin they were involved with. Also the main female are similar as well (Aki and Lyuze) Not to mention, Shinigami reference in the show (Dune and Kyosuke Kiryu) 

If you have seen either shows, you will notice something similar. Both installments are darker than their counterparts along with having similar elements. Yusei and Shirou start off with their daily lives only to realize that their destiny is leading them to something greater than they can imagine. They are later accompanied by powerful beings (Stardust Dragon and Saber) along with friends they trust (Ex. Jack, Rua, Ruca, Aki and Rin, Archer). For the most part despite the differences using weapons and cards, the concept of time is used in both series. What is interesting is that SPOILER ALERT: Kirei and Rex are similar as well as Zone and Archer. read more 

These shonen shows have whats in common: Thrill and Action Packed Tournaments race across your mind like crazy! Evil Guys who plan to scheme to take over the entire world from a villain to the next. Cast whose role is destined to save the world by meeting one character to another. The main char resolves to protect their friends and forge bonds which is part of the theme of the show, Strategy is essential to beating opponents with surprises than just mindless fighting.  

They are both children's shows with young protagonists whom control monsters to battle against the forces of evil. Both have nice art styles and monster/character designs.  

Both 3rd series of iconic monster battling kids anime. Both have varied and cool monster designs with Dragons being prominent basis for some of these designs.  

Both iconic children's monster anime series. Both have sentient monsters within objects such as cards and spinning tops. Both have great character designs and OSTs.  

Both follow young brave heroes with epic hair styles. Both kids anime with a wide variety of monsters. Lovable characters and art styles. Both have futuristic motorcycles and themes of futurism in general. 

Both reinvented the wheel for their respective franchises. Both were generally well received by the fan-bases despite straying away from the established norms of what makes a Digimon or Yugioh series. Both could be considered the third generation of their respective franchises (if you count Digimon Adventure 01 + 02 as one generation). 

They are both children's shows that feature young protagonists whom control monsters to battle/duel. They both have many great monster designs and character designs. The art for both shows is great and they both target the same demographic. If you watched one when you were younger you may well have already seen the other but if not, you'd definitely enjoy it.  

both have games that are the most known in the world but yugioh5d fits tennagers more while bedaman fits children more  

Besides the fact that these series mostly revolve around the use of drawing their powers from card(s), there are some serious tones throughout the plot. The duels of both of these series determine the player's of the big outlook of Survival of the Fittest. Losing a duel could be least costly of dropping reputation to costing lives.  

In many ways, the plight of Dornkirk and that of Z-ONE are one and the same. Both are old men with deep voices, one with a machine, well traveled in the world, whose sole desire is to remove darkness and despair. The desire to create a new world in one's own image is a very common underlying theme, and can be seen influencing the stories of both anime. Both characters are also willing to listen to the things that others have to say, particularly the protagonists, and their well-travelled nature allows them the luxury to make such acceptances. Though the tragic fate must befall men of these statures, their ambitions are pure, but their goals naive. You can also see similarities in the psychic powrs of Akiza and Hitomi, which play a major part in many aspects of each characters development (no pun intended). These shows are also alike in the fact that thier characters are never the same, and constantly run into things that change them for better or for worse.  read more 

Both classic kids anime that involve young protagonists battling and competing in various tournaments and against evil powers using objects that harbour the spirits of sentient monsters. In Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's they battle with cards whereas Beyblade has it's own spin on spinning tops. With the duel runners introduced in 5D's both shows have heavy themes of speed. Both are made to look cool and hype you up in the same way. Both have iconic soundtracks, art styles, monster designs and character designs. 

Both have card games, monster battles and a high tech future setting with sci-fi style inventions. Both have great English OST's. 

Both have time travel, cards & battles. Both have cute monster designs as well more serious/cool looking monsters. Both have good English dubs. 

Main Chars are similar in someway as they experience a tragic past only to haunt them. Both form friends whose resolve is to forge more bonds and in other words: friendship. The bad guys are alike though not exact. The stories in each show contain mature content that proves darker than other shonen series.  

Dark Signers Arc is basically Yugioh meets X/1999 without Gorn. Elements of Dragon, Fate, and World Destruction plays the key in both shows. The only difference is that there are 5 Dragons in 5ds and 14 dragons in X but the opposing sides share a common goal: destroy the current world and reform a new one. In other words 10 participants: 5 signers vs 5 dark signers and 14 participants:7 dragons of heaven vs 7 dragons of earth. It is really thrilling and fast pacing in 5ds but at the same time shonen whereas X gets all the death tolls as the battle goes on. Note that friends turn against each other due to fate. read more 

Yugioh 5ds and Fate Stay Night are shows that have people fighting each other through battles. 5Ds fight through cards and FSN fights through masters and servants. The reason why I put this recommendation was because after watching the Dark Signers Arc, it reminds me of FSN in a certain way. 10 signers in teams of 5 and 14 participants in teams of 2 fight for the ultimate prize with marks embedded in them. Suspicious host plays in both tournaments while participants fight each other in a setting. If you enjoyed either war, you'll like the other.  

R2 and 5D's are very similar in tone: they place priority on entertainment and wild aesthetics. Simultaneously both darker and odder than the previous installments of the franchises, the two shows present a wide variety of characters and are always trying to outdo themselves: every episode must be more flashy, more extreme, just plain MORE than the last one. They're fun to watch just to see what kinds of crazy stunts the characters will perform or what kind of didn't-see-that-coming plot twists will happen next. Recommended to those who just want to sit down and be taken on a colorful, crazy ride. 

Both revolve around a group of 5 characters who all have marks on their hands/arms showing they are chosen ones, both involve tournaments with competators from various parts of the world, both have the main character trying to deal with an event that happened with one of their family members. 

Both kinda re-imagine the core concept of their respective original series and craft a very interesting plot. 

Both classic kids shows from wider spanning franchises. Both could be considered to have darker themes than their other counterparts in their respective franchises and are later iterations. Both are also marketing their related products (cards/toys). 

Both kids monster anime that also heavily embrace the 'sport' side of their respective competitions. Both have great character & monster designs as well as solid English dubs and OSTs. 

Both popular kids monster anime from a similar era targeting a similar audience. Both have plenty of varied monster designs. Both English dubs have rocking openings and OSTs.  

The first part of 5DS reminded me a lot of Scryed. You have two characters from a poor place trying to escape and beat the system in control. Although 5DS eventually goes into a completely different direction. Scryed will revolve around the main characters fight against those in power as he tries to change his fate. Similarities: Both cities suffered an event that split them into two parts. Both characters are gifted with abilities and come from the poor side. Both characters fight to try and change their fate.  

After watching some episodes in 5ds, they remind me of DMC in some way in which it involves a mature cast whose role is to save the day in an episodic style. Unaware that evil looms to plot a bigger scheme than ever……..
