Most people have only watched the original yugioh. Vrains is the newest one with a different plot m characters, and summoning methods. You will enjoy this if you liked the plot of the original. They are interesting

Both feature genius main characters who have a terrorist/rebellious hero alter ego. Both of these alter egos Playmaker and Zero are super popular and charismatic. Both seek revenge for their traumatic past.

Vrains' 2nd season is identical to Zeta Gundam as a new tyrannical force takes reign allowing allies and former enemies to team up to tear down what will take over the current society that culminated events from previous series. Yusaku and Kamille have a lot in common as the story progresses and Revolver this time takes cues from Quattro Bajeena wearing shades to continue his father's legacy.

Yusaku and Subaru suffer depression and angst at one point encounter a cybernetic being whose homeworld was under attack aids them to become victorious in one battle to another. Wave Change and Into the Vrains have an identical concept where the character undergoes a transformation with the abilities of their partners to absorb anything in front of them. Later they ally with the female whose tragic past involved a family incident and are pop idols beloved by the masses. Then later a strong and brute rival comes in to challenge them at one point becomes corrupted to the point that they would knock sense out of them. For the  read more

Yugioh Vrains can be said to be the deconstruction of the internet/cyberpunk genre to the point that it is dark and edgy unlike any other series made. Yusaku is the complete opposite of Netto as an anti hero vigilante seeking out vengeance and hate against his enemies whereas Netto serves the Net Society to save the day. AI like Megaman serves as a partner in hand and guides the mc throughout the series only to end up turning against him at some point. Though I can't help but compare some of the aspects: Den City Check Into the Vrains to Cross Fusion and Jack In Check Rival with red scheme colors  read more

What these two have in common: -Protagonists suffering from PTSD fight at a young age wounds up in a conflict that entails terrorism involving youth. -Masked characters with red scheme follows their father's will in a terrorist organization with the resolve to revolt against what they stand for. -Gets darker and ends in a depressing fashion.

Yusaku and Spike are criminals with wanted bounty on their heads who suffer from a dark and traumatic past deal with powerful enemies and gather allies from time to time with a talent powerful enough to achieve this many victories along their journey. The themes of both show deals with not forgetting the past, revenge, crime, etc that makes them more adult oriented mature enough for viewers to see.

Both later "future" themed series of classic kids anime franchises (Beyblade & Yugioh). Both feature new technologies, changing worlds and competitive battles. Although in terms of personality they differ greatly, in terms of design both main characters have a similar look (Playmaker/Gingka).

Both more recent iterations of super popular kids anime franchises (beyblade & yugioh). Both have very similar appeal & art styles. Both with impeccable character designs, a standard set for their larger franchises as a whole.

Vrains and Sins are the bleakest series in the entry so far. The themes will hit you to the point of depression, realism, and edginess due to how dark they are. Yusaku and Casshern starts of emotionless and ruthless searching for the meaning of their life during their journey and at one point meet companions and enemies as the story rolls along impacting their development. Though Vrains is shonen, it is far more seinen than 5ds due to the tragic backstories and deaths that the cast has. Sins on the other hand is the departure from Casshern only to target adults making it the quality show that nowadays has  read more

Though the shows are contrasting and different in terms of themes and story, the characters however though share similarities. Yusaku and Guts wants revenge against their arch enemies whom they experienced in their tragic past through any means necessary. VRAINS and P5 deal with incidents that involve innocents and the MCs in both of their shows must exploit and bring them to justice but at the same time suffer their troubled past.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both series take in a setting where society has centered around the usage of virtual and/or augmented reality. They both involve playing in a game where there's actually the risk of losing your life. This particular season of SAO is a lot closer to VRAINS's situation in regards to life-threatening situations and AI sentimentality. In both shows, the AIs are developed to actually develop true intelligence, but their own self-awareness has surpassed expectations, resulting in huge complications that turn out as the main conflict.

I know it might seem odd to recommend these two, but hear me out: -Both are low poing starting but get better over ( Arc-V Synchro Dimension and Vrains episode 47 onwards) -Both are MUCH improved over their predecessors (Zexal and GX respectively) -Both are much darker than previous entrees -Both share are 2.0 of thier predecessors ( GX and 5D's) -Both feature a return to older plot mechanic (Arc V takes a lot of cues from 5Ds, and Vrains takes cues from Dm to Arc-V) -Both share an old extra deck mechanic and return old ones (Arc-V did bring back 4 eras, and Vrains brough back  read more

IBO and Arc V may have something in common regarding mythology gags and improvements over their predecessors but Vrains has more in common with IBO S2 as being the most depressing series up to date. Terrorism, child soldiers, revolution, and tragedy is the theme in both shows not to mention featuring protagonists who have endured harsh life since childhood showing no emotion fights a war for their selfish reasons and wanting to have a place to return to. Antagonists switch from time to time while one is a Char Clone who is a villain at first but allies later in order to reform the corrupt society. Later the  read more

MCs were trained from youth in a harsh manner ends up as vigilantes gaining fame that draws attention threats they cannot escape from.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both take place in a modern society with characters involving in a virtual gaming system which is the focal point of the show. Both the MCs are well known and are powerful users that dominate the screen. The female lead are similar but somewhat. The characters in Yugioh VRAINS are cold and detached as opposed to SAO being all about friendship.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both take place in a cyberpunk setting where a certain technology with a conspiracy dominates the entire society revolves around crime, vigilantism, and terrorism. Revolver and Makishima's goal are identical since they want to preserve humanity by destroying the technological aspect that is corroding their life while Makishima's seiyuu shares a lot in common with AI as they too later lead their own rebellion against the mc. Yusaku and Kogami are stoic individuals with a tragic past with the resolve to hunt those responsible for their tragedy as anti heroes. Yusaku's friendship with Aoi and Takeru resembles that of Akane and Ginoza per comparison.
