Plastic Memories and Planetarian are based in the future where robots are meshed into normal life with humans to a certain degree. In each show there is a human male protagonist and robotic female who's lifespan is coming to an end. These shows feature the sci-fi/drama genre and add a spin with romance between the main characters. If you enjoyed either show I'd recommend the other for a similar experience.

Both series are focused around the aftermath of a large disaster on Earth and have similar solitary atmosphere and ideas revolving around God and humans. Main characters feature a naive little girl with no knowledge of her surroundings, meeting an unfamilair adult, taking a journey seeking answers together.

Both series are set in a world after civilisation has ended, however, despite the end of civilisation across the world, there are some beauties and wonders within the world that are hidden and worth living for, despite the apocalypse. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryoko approaches this in a more light hearted manner, with Yuri and Chito having their unbreakable bond to keep them going and loving the world that they once knew. Planetarian is a much darker experience, with Yumemi clinging onto what she learnt for all the time that she has lived for, and the Junker discovering this beauty that Yumemi was a part of for many years.

Both mediums represent the simple concept yet tragic tale of longing. It explores the contrast between bittersweet realities and a yearning for a beautiful landscape and belonging. Set in a sci-fi setting where the characters are oblivious to their situation. Unable to distinguish the current reality they instead paint a beautiful world that is beyond the yonder of humanity. Upon the conclusions of their stories, the narrative shifts into the desire to carry on those memories; leading to a thought provoking ending.

Both feature stories about AI and Human relations, and the differences between both ways of existence. They have similar protagonists and cover similar themes.

If you like human and robot interaction then this is another anime that is right up that alley. Both consider ideas about how robots and society or individuals come together to understand what it means to feel. Great writing on both parts..

The series are both dramas created by Key Studios. In both shows, the main character meets a lonely girl and helps her with a problem she has. If you enjoy watching sad and touching stories, you'll probably like both anime.

These two dramas are both originally visual novels made by Key Studios. In both shows, the protagonist meets a girl and helps her with a problem she has. If you enjoy the emotional storytelling Key is known for, you'll probably like both the series.

A robot remains isolated for dozens of years in a planetarium, therefore it ignores the events that occur outside, there is a theme for the passage of time, memory and life.

Planetarian, like Prima Doll, are series belonging to the Key company, that is, they share staff members. In both series we have robots as protagonists who want to be useful to humans even if it is difficult for them due to their circumstances.

You really like star huh? Then "Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume" or "Planetarian: Hoshi no Hito" is similar to "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia". "Planetarian" story is about robot who like planetarium and want to save it, or maintain it and want star known by the next generation. "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" story is two people who can't sleep then form a astronomy club. As time goes by, they like stars.

world with isolated human groups, unfriendly apocaliptic-like surroundings, premonition of some advanced knowledge that is unacessible to people for one reason or another, and kind of romantic, dreamy atmosphere concerning chosen aspects of story.

Both series deal with a girl with robot-esque qualities and with ignorance about the regular world, being social awkward. Both deal with themes such as meaning and purpose, and are very emotionally involving. Both have a war as part of their world's background.

Memory and Planetarian are both about a robot in the post-apocalypse. They both are drama and have a heavy focus on the robot's memories.
report Recommended by Third-Impact
Both utilize a planetarium setting and a mysterious male character and the cheerful female lead who tries to help him. Also, astronomy and stargazing are both heavily prominent

Both are VN adaptations from Key/Visual Art's. Both series shows on how our world can be destroyed by humanity. Both have a male protagonist with atleast 1 main female heroine. Both are drama stories, but Rewrite is more focused on world building/development, while Planetarian is focused on the character's interactions.

Synduality is very similar to Planetarian in terms of background as well as the fact that both heroines are robots/AI that help the main character.

Has the same cyber post-apocalypse setting with a VN style writing to it

Similar buildup of main characters... both series deal with human and humanoids, both gives feels. If you like simple story with decent depth, give both series (OVAs) a shot.

Robots are making their mark in the world and involve a creation of a relationship between man and robots. Both have "special" robots which show how they are different compared to other "lifeless" robots.
report Recommended by JaysAnimeRealm
Both shows are about the interaction of human and robot in a post apocalyptic world. Kurogane is more lighthearted with comedy elements while planetarian is more serious.

Dimension W and Planetarian both take place in the future. In each series, the main character, who is a junker, finds an adorable robot. However, the interpretations of the future are different. In Dimension W, the future is mostly positive. While in Planetarian, it is a post apocalyptic scenario.

Some aspects are the same Man and Automaton though the other has more "FREE WILL" than the other.

Made by the same creators (Key!), you will absolutely love this show if you enjoyed any of Key's other stuff, but particularly Clannad AS. It is a short, 5 episode series set in a post-apocalyptic world (similar to Angel Beats! but far better).

Both series revolve around astronomy and stargazing, with similar interactions between the lead male and female (initially male is not a fan of the female, who is generally rather compassionate toward him). The settings, however, could not be more different
