Crusher Joe

wether space pirates on a payroll, or just doing a legitimate space police job, Both having the ambition to be the best in their profession, u don't see anime like this anymore for a long time sadly, pure classics 

Very similar in terms of the character roles of the main four, as well as the 'mercenaries for hire, on a spaceship' premise. The lead, Joe, is a little like Spike; him being a quiet, charismatic, and somewhat cool young guy. His love interest, and the second crew member, Alfin, is like Faye in the sense that she's the noisiest character, as well as the only one with sex appeal. Talos is CJ's Jet - his bulky build and wisdom gained from living longer than the others making him the most mature of the team. And, completing the list, Ricky is CJ's very own Ed - him being the required kid of the team and the the one with the know-how to fix their ship. All that's missing to make CB and CJ match-up fully is a Welsh Corgi. If you found the struggles of the Bebop crew entertaining as they tried to make money, CJ's action-packed story is sure to please, too. read more 

Same character designer and Director give these two movie a similar feel and look. Both have wonderful animation and really shine when the protaganist and his gang, In Venus Wars they are a Motor-sport biker gang and in Crusher Joe they are Space Privateers, are all together going through the paces. Overall I think Crusher Joe is the better show with its lighter mood and focused plot, but both are a fun watch. 

These two '80s features have nearly identical plots: a renegade group of young "transporters-for-hire" gets asked by someone purportedly working for an influential family to take the family's rich, young incapacitated daughter somewhere to prevent her from being kidnapped. But little do our heroes know that the ones who asked them to take on this job were in disguise, and they were the bad guys all along, seeking to frame our heroes for the kidnapping! There is also a comically obsessive authority figure chasing after them. The main difference is that "Riding Bean" takes place in Chicago, and "Crusher Joe" takes place in space. 

Both are space adventures with a bunch of likable goofballs, similar action and setting, a really over the top 80's aesthetic and both potentially share the same universe. In fact Dirty Pair: The Movie does a call back to Crusher Joe as Crusher Joe did features Dirty Pair cameos.  

Both shows share the same universe, but the tone in both is very similar as well, if you've enjoyed one of them, it's highly likely you'll appreciate the other. 

Having the same character designer, the character designs in the two movies are identical. While that's the only similarity I could find, It's a rather strong one, since it made me want to watch the movies. While I preferred Arion, Crusher Joe was also very good. If you like one of them, you are very likely to like the other, as well. 

When watching Crusher Joe, I really couldn't help but constantly think of the resemblance it bore to MSG. Not only are the character designs the same, the overall feel of the movies is just extremely similar. I can't really imagine liking one and disliking the other. Note: I haven't seen the full MSG 0079 series, and only the summary movies, but I assume it would pertain to that as well.

Both involve interplanetary special agents that must solve some dispute on a foreign world. Action-packed, a bit cheesy at times, and never short on spacey sci-fi fun. Hell, Crusher Joe even includes a brief cameo from the Dirty Pair themselves.
