Blood+

Doroku (土6), a shortened name for the 6 p.m. time slot on Saturdays, was Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) and its sister network Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS)'s programming block. Doroku was first launched in October 2002, however, the first anime series to air on the block was in July 1993. The block ended was replaced by Nichigo in April 2008.

Adult Swim (stylized as [adult swim] or abbreviated as [as]) is an American timeshare cable television network bundled with Cartoon Network. The programs featured on Adult Swim are geared toward teens and young adults. Broadcast since 2001, much of the network's general content is known for its risqué, unorthodox and often bizarre presentation, while many of the series' features are developed in stark contrast with traditional American television programs. The block features stylistically varied animated and live-action shows including original programming, syndicated shows and Japanese anime, generally with minimal or no editing for content.

Believe it or not, some of the best anime have nothing to do with manga at all, and some even got a manga adaptation after they were aired or while they were in production. Compiled here are non-manga-based anime that you need to add to your watchlist as soon as possible. Some of them are classics that you might have watched and re-watched many times before, while others are a bit more unknown.

One of my favorite anime tropes!

I love anime that feature what is normally a "background" character that is the perfect butler or concierge. They're good at seemingly everything - cleaning, cooking, mending ... you name it, so the master never has to worry. Oh and if things get dicey, it turns out the Butler is also secretly (or not secretly) Overpowered and has amazing martial arts or magical powers.

You know that butler! You might have seen them in these anime, sorted in Alphabetical Order.

Brooding Anime are those that ask the big questions, and may or may not try to provide an answer. Does life have meaning, or are we all just dancing in God's Palm?
