Both Animatrix and Halo Legends are based on US material and have a similiar structure, with each episode having a unique style and represents its own story.

Both are anime made up of shorter segments meant to explain the gap between feature films.

Star Wars: Visions and The Animatrix are anime anthologies based on blockbuster action film franchises. Both anthologies contain nine individual short films about new stories taking place in the films' universe. Each episode is written and directed by a different animation studio. These anime reference characters and events from the base franchises. It is recommended you watch the films before these spin-offs for a fuller experience.

A compilation package that contains several animation video from different studio or staff. Each video featuring different style animation, which some of them have some connection with original series (Example : The Matrix & Evangelion) or rather completely original animation.

“Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?” Serial Experiments Lain and the Matrix franchise share the same themes: What is reality? Can we trust in what our senses tell us? Is there another reality beyond that we can see?

Black Out 2022, and "The Second Renaissance" part of The Animatrix, are about the struggle of synthetic people against oppression. Scenes in both show violent human mobs attacking and destroying synthetics in the streets, with particular attention given to a synthetic girl apparently created to be used for sex. The synthetics then rise up against humanity.

One segment of The Animatrix is World Record - which, like Redline, has the name Takeshi Koike listed as director. Both titles share the same overall style. But while Redline can be viewed as its own self-contained story (with the Trava OVA as a sideshow), World Record does require some knowledge of the Matrix film series (whether from the main movies or the other Animatrix shorts) to fully appreciate.

Two anthological sci-fi anime, which explore similar existential concepts.

The Wachowski brothers, makers of the The Matrix trilogy, have commented on the influence of the first Ghost in the Shell film, directed by Mamoru Oshii, on The Matrix. Producer Joel Silver also stated in an interview on the The Animatrix DVD that he was shown the Ghost in the Shell movie during a pitch from the Wachowski brothers to indicate the style and look of the film they wanted for The Matrix

+ A new virtual world created inside network, which allows people to perform normal activities like in the real world. But an incident began to disrupt the peace of this new utopia. + MC originally live inside this "virtual world" but decided to leaving because she/he know that world is not real (Animatrix Episode 4) + Also we can see how relationship between human & robot can be made (Animatrix Episode 9)

Both films are anthologies revolving around science fiction concepts. Several of the animatrix shorts have the theme of robotics and their dangers. Both are very visually innovative. As I was rewatching the Animatrix, I really felt as if I was watching Robot Carnival 2 at times.

There is similarities in these OVA's/movies... They are both in parts with similar arts and stories about possible future, therefore I highly recommend it if u like anime that deal with possible future destruction, if u search to watch different arts in one anime or if u are fan of Matrix (this counts for Animatrix).

Imagine if The Animatrix was mixed with Eve no Jikan (heavily influenced by Isaac Asimov). The result would be Baton. Its science fiction story mixed with light inter robotic romance budding from a robot's existentialism sets this anime apart from bland Shounen and fanservice plagued anime released in the past few years.

Similar animation style - Festival animation. And a very nice story.

MSMM follows The Matrix series in the way it deals with matters of hope and faith. There are some more outright similarities, but no spoilers here.

Karas has proper storyline, while Animatrix is several divided stories, they may seem very different at the beginning, but Karas gets very Matrix-ish later in the series (men vs machines + mechanical tentacles)

Very much the same premise, a bunch of kids find glitches in a program that is connected to the real world.

World record, and Kid's Story share a similar art and animation style. Even though unrelated story wise, if you enjoyed the art from one you will enjoy the other as well.

Reffering to the 2nd Renessance and Detecive Story for the most part here. The two shows have certain styalistic touches in common and the bleak portrait of the future is similar enough in the two to reccommend but not so similar you'll feel like they copied eachother. =)

Can we stop the rise of the robots? Both anime consist of small arcs where we see how artificial intellegence advances and destroys mankind. Both are very suitable for Western audience, and have cool fighting scenes. Animatrix has different main characters every arc and has other stories as well, while Vivy has the same main characters and is only about the rise of the machine.
