Afro Samurai

Both of these have high level samurais shed alot of blood, also the animes contain blood, violence and a sex scene.  

Afro samurai is more like a mixture of samurai champloo and samurai Jack, with a darker tone.They both offer a completely different take on the samurai genre as well as the action. Afro's action is a lot more exaggerated while samurai champloo's goes for more realistic sword fights. They're Recommended to anyone looking for some great samurai action  

They both have a unique hip-hop flair that, somehow, coincides with the samurai theme. They also both contain amalgamation of the past and present (like monks with rocket launchers, beat-boxing peasants). It's a weird little niche that both of these titles somehow fell into, and we haven't really seen anything like them before or after. 

Nice music, nice fight scenes, similar atmosphere, but AS is obviously more EPIC 

Both the shows are about samurai! But the most common and rare thing the shows have in common is their Hip-Hop inspired theme! 

Both are Samurai action series. Both have a Hip Hop theme. Both have badass action scenes. Afro Samurai has Samuel L. Jackson. Samurai Champloo has Mugen.

Both are samurai shows that have a hip hop theme. The action scenes are good in both, but I think Samurai Champloo had a lot more comedy.  

Afro Samurai and Samurai Champloo are both about rogue samurai warriors and the way they overcome any appearing problem, always with a based-on-the-tip-of-their-sword attitude. They both have a nice blend of bumpin' hip-hop tracks and samurai action that leads to a unique experience. The fight sequences are stylish and entertaining and the characters in both series are well developed and you won't forget about them the minute you start watching a new anime. If you enjoyed watching one of them then you should definitely check out the other. 

If you like style, Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai are definitely two series worth mentioning when taking its action and characters. Among other factors, both series takes place in a samurai-like age where there are feuds and conflicts. From these conflicts, characters usually solves them through power and dominance. The action in both series are solid and the main character is a skilled samurai capable of combat. They're also quite brash and often speaks out what's on their mind towards their peers. Both series are also noticeable for their catchy soundtrack as well. 

They each have the elements of hip-hop music fused in samurai themes mixed within the context of each other. 

Wandering nearly unbeatable samurais looking for one man. Going through a great number of people to get to him. They both give the same feel due to the hip-hop music and the fight scenes.

Both series have some really good fighting scenes in them, which make up for the weaker story aspect. With Mugen from Samurai Champloo being the badass, rough gem of a fighter in contrast to Jin, the uniform, well practiced rounen, and from Afro Samurai you have Afro, who is the "number two" of the fighting world, who's so focused on his past that nothing else matters to him at all. 

Chanbara and Hip-Hop. Two styles that sound like they wouldn't work together. But these two anime both prove that the two styles blend perfectly. Both shows have amazing fight choreography, similar but still unique soundtracks, and urban inspired design. Samurai Champloo takes it to a more adventure oriented zone, while Afro Samurai takes it to a more cruel place. Either way if you like one, you will like the other. 

Samaurai era, sword, blood, and interesting plot 

Very tailored for Western audiences with a spectacular dub. Both sport hip-hop tracks that are rarely seen in anime and feature traveling swordsmen that no one wants to mess with.  

Both main character(s) are BADASSES. Although Afro samurai is alot shorter than samurai champloo but is a pack a punch of action. if you like samurai animes or badass characters then this is a try out. 

Nice and well done action scenes, and both are samurai themed. The series are based on travel for some quest, and there we can see diferent types of personality present in the groups and change the mood based on them.

Good Samurai anime which share a similar style 

Hip-hop themed samurai anime, Afro Samurai is a tad less eccentric than Champloo, but has a score produced by the legendary RZA. 

Both incorporate rap/hip-hop elements and some modern day American aspects. Both feature samurai and similar level of maturity and brutality.  

They both have Hip-Hop, they both got Samurais, and they appeal to westerners like us.  

If you are looking for interesting Characters, a unique Artstyle and something that is also samurai themed, I highly recommend giving Afro Samurai a chance. It has a darker note to it, but is definitely just as intriguing as Samurai Champloo. 

Both are hip hop oriented storylines,musical scores and also over the top action and characters.

this is similar to Afro samurai because they both take place in the Edo period of japan when everyone was a samurai. they are both are on a quest full of action and heartbreak. 

While a lot shorter than Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai has many hip-hop influences in more ways than one--I mean, the music is made by RZA, of all people. Afro Samurai also has that traditional samurai feel and tells an incredible story in a short period. 

Both Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai combine the art of samurai with Western (namely hip-hop) elements in their own ways. They also pair interesting stories of their main characters' pasts with unadulterated, violent fun.

Ninja Scroll is a classic among anime movies, and has an interesting plot and series of twists that makes it fresh even today. References within the movie itself stay obscure, and it has this subtle flair about it that reminds me of Afro Samurai (or rather, Afro Samurai reminded me of this). They both complement each other to fans, while still being exotically unique and fresh in their own right.  

The main thing those anime got in common is the samurai theme and thus the fighting. They're both aimed at the same focus group but ninja scroll goes a bit further with the sexual parts. Afro Samurai on the other hand has more of that dark humor and though talk while Ninja Scroll is a bit more serious. All in all you can consider Afro Samurai as the more modern type of anime while Ninja Scroll is a typical classic type of anime. 

Ninjas, Bloodshed and quality animation. 

Similar narrative structure, and action sequences. Both decent, yet ultimately superficial. Both a tier below a series like Samurai Champloo. 

Juubee Ninpuuchou and Afro Samurai are similar to each other due to both anime showing off high levels of intense bloody violence, feature a very likeable badass swordsman as the main character, how they have very stylish animation and aesthetically pleasing art styles for their own individual times. Both anime are popularly known in the anime community because of how influential they are and the positive reception resulted in the creation of sequels for both anime. 

both share stylish ultra violent action,art,character designs,supernatural settings and cool quirky characters as well too. 

Old school samurai anime. Very similar dark colour palettes with exaggerated blood splatters. Neither of them are grounded in reality as the enemies have strange abilities. Lots of violence with the main character being at the centre of it all. 

Afro Samurai and Berserk are both extremely violent series that have a really similar noir and obscure feel about them despite having very different settings. They have deadly apathetic lead characters that once set on a path will not be stopped no matter what obstacle they have in front of them. Both anime offer superb animation, incredible shows of swordplay and you will most certainly enjoy the flow of blood in both of them. If you liked watching one of the series I highly recommend trying out the other. 

Both of these animes have quite overpowered main characters, whose are just slashing their way through dozens of enemies. They're both kind of introverts as they don't say any unnecessary words. The storyline is truly epic - the one, where you just sit down and watch, watch and watch with your mouth open. 

Close combat violence, badass protagonist and animation that is nice to look at. 

Bloodshed. Gruesome action. Supernatural beings. Troubled by their pasts, one must keep fighting and one must keep suffering. What must they do to survive? Their fate lies on the battlefield. While these are all similarities between the two anime, “Berserk” focuses on the main character, Guts, and his journey with a mercenary group called “Band of the Hawk”. The main character, Afro, in “Afro Samurai”, on the other hand, is on the hunt for revenge to look for the person who murdered his father. 

Interesting story, just fun to watch, gory (just like berserk). and for once a good dub (Samual Jackson as lead character voice actor)  

both are violent edgy series with lots of chaos and hectic moments as well as stylish visuals and art as well too. 

Katana-Sword-Splatter 

Both have Samurai fights, the atmosphere is the same on some scenes, the art itself is similar. 

It's got all the Breasts, Guts and Gore Afro Samurai has. That is of coarse if you can get past how revolting certain characters can be... Ok, lets be honest here, there's maybe four or five characters that retain normal human psychological behavior. Everyone in this show is screwed in the head, but at least they make for some beastly fights. 

They take us back to those times when the samurai were everything. Stories of revenge and personal development, well-established social patterns of the time. 

Both are dark samurai animes with a deep plot , a marvellous animation and a unique art. Shigurui need a season 2 but season one can give you a sufficient orgasm if you like samurai, historical drama . Bloody detailed scenes and well drawn gore and anotomy scenes would make your eyes happy for sure .

Afro Samurai and Hellsing Ultimate are both bloody action anime that despite their differences in genre, will surely appeal to a similar audience and can be appreciated equally for their detailed design. Both plots play with the idea of innocence lost, and the main protagonists give the impression of being a powerful, yet unknown quantity - silent monoliths of potential devastation in worlds that in both cases often seem teeming with hostile forces. Both series offer superb animation where blood and gore will liter the screen while sword swings, gun blasts, and heavy ordinance are exchanged. If you liked watching one of them you shouldn't hesitate to try out the other. read more 

Both main characters like to get down to business. They are also near-invincible, albeit Afro can actually die and Alucard has millions of lives. These two series are visually amazing and the amount of gore is just pleasant. There is fairly strong character development in both anime. These series have refreshing ideas of how vampires and Dracula should be. 

Both have powerful main characters with dark storylines and exciting, blood-filled fight scenes. They have similar art styles that make them feel similar to watch, I would highly recommend Afro Samurai to anyone who enjoyed the Hellsing OVA and vice versa 

Afro Samurai and Claymore are both violent anime. The main protagonists have trained since childhood for one single purpose - revenge. Years spent sharpening their sword skills have made them become hardened to violence and much feared by others. They follow and respect the warrior codes, including a ranking system based on power and skills, where progression through the ranks is usually only by defeating your superiors. Both anime offer superb animation and incredible shows of swordplay. If you liked watching one of them you wont regret trying out the other. 

They both want revenge on the person who killed their love one who matter the most to them from their childhood.

Samurai's and swords, that's the main similarity. Both the main characters have seen slaughter of friend and family before their eyes when they were still little kids. Both anime's contain vengeance of some sort. Rurouni Kenshin is a more serious anime though since Afro Samurai has elements of humor in it, not to mention that Afro is a black samurai. Another thing is that both anime's are only a few episodes long.

Both classic samurai anime. Both feature a main character who cannot be matched in swordsmanship when he gets serious. Both have great villains & character designs.  

Afro Samurai and Ninja Batman Both Have -A mix of feudal Japan and modern technology -Production had connections to American influences (Batman and Samuel L. Jackson/Wu-Tang)  

It's the same idea: Samurai from Africa Both of them have a black history and want to escape from it but that is impossible Afro samurai and Yasuki have good animation Both Afro samurai and Yasuki are short anime 

blood, action is a lot of blood 

You like Samurai fighting? Watching dark stuff does not affect you anymore because you are already dead inside? But you still kill because it is who you are. Watch Dororo - you will like it.

Both mc's are trying to find their fathers killer in order to avenge them. 

After his parent gets killed, the main character sets on a journey to become the strongest, fueled by hate towards the one who killed his parent and motivated by a revenge.
