Both are about a young girl encountering a familiar(animal) who introduce them to magical powers. in the Magical Girl genre. Even though Madoka Magica is a little darker, but its just as great.

Chibi-ursa and Princess Tutu have a way of sparkling on screen which can be quite enduring, though for some viewers this may also come across as not so enduring if this isn't a character type they enjoy. Both are magical girls with a definite mission in mind that directs the story as it unfolds.

-Mahou Shoujo Anime -Five 14 years old girl with pink, red, yellow, green, and blue as theme color. -Princess Candles look similar to the Moon Kaleidoscope. -Both from Toei Animation

The theme of both series is dreams; in Sailor Moon SuperS, the villains target people they think have beautiful dreams to check if Pegasus is hiding in their dreams, while in Go! Princess Precure, the villain merely locks up the dream and creates a monster in the process.
