Fushigi Yuugi

Both are Are "Magical Girl" (Mahō shōjo) Animes and Mangas, with the main character being transported into a "Fudal Era" alternate world. I prefer Fushigi Yuugi over InuYasha for the fact that all though it is a long running series, the series does come to a conclusion! In both the Manga and Ainime... 

The two series both involve girls taken outside of their comfort zone to a different role. Both series end up taking her outside her comfort zone both in time, but in regarding what is normal. They both find themselves the center of attention despite never really being such before in a supernatural battle regarding everyone's fates. 

in both of them there are priestess that have a mission and role to complete and on their journey they both make friends with some more people. I think they are both similiar in such a way and maybe in the plot, another thing is that the both priestess came to this world by a magic entrace and live in their own modern world. I think Fushigi Yuugi contains much more romance and cuteness and I liked it so much, if you liked Inu Yasha and want something with a little more romance Fushigi Yuugi is the Anime for you :) 

The girl goes back in time and falls in love with someone from there. Its a must watch for girls!!! They both have adveture, romance and lots of action!!! 

THEY ARE SOOOOOOOOO SIMILAR ITS CRIMINAL!!!!! Magical item to past: Well(Inuyasha) Book(Fushigi Yuugi) Inuyasha: Tama Home Kagome: Myaka Koga: Emperor ITS got the whole "you are a priestess who will save us" thing and the whole forbiden love and 2 lovers for Inuyasha thing. The dub is better but thats for you to decide. There isnt very much bad language in this as there is in Inuyasha but they are sooooooo similar i think i will die! there arnt as many episodes in this but its still awesome!!! 

The show is in feudal time Japan. It has many different genres like action, romance, fantasy and more! This is my favorite anime and Fushigi Yuugi remind me so much about it. (There's a monk in Inuyasha too; Except he doesn't say "You know" a lot but he rubs girls butts enough!) Please watch Inuyasha AND Fushigi Yuugi they're both REALLY good animes! 

Both of these titles have a female lead character who travels back in time and falls in love with a guy from the past. They also have a following of people helping them out. The key difference between the two is most likely that Inuyasha is less "romantic" than Tamahome, and Kagome can actually fend for herself, unlike Miaka.  

Well, in both there's a girl who travels to a different world. Also, there are some similarities in the plot if you watch them both all the way through. Also two of the main characters have a thing going on. Here's a tip about animes: wait until at least the 5th episode or so until you make a finaol disision on whether or not to finish an anime. 

The female leads live in modern day Japan and then enter ancient times through different means to different places, however, the main characters still deal with an ancient evil that needs to be exterminated only by journeying throughout this ancient domain with their newfound friends that they meet along the way. The female leads each find a romantic interest that keep them tied to their new found realities. They also juggle their lives in modern Japan and journey back into ancient times.  

both have comedy, fantasy, drama, action, adventure. They are about a girl who went to another epoca and found her love there. 

They both have the same plot. A girl falls into Ancient times, both fall in love with an ancient character from back then, both are clumsy and weak, and both are very loyal and loving to their friends. Only fushigi yuugi came first before inuyasha. 

Both of these anime have a high school girl transported back in time. Both also have a lot of love triangles, squares, and pentagons. One of the only differences is that there a more demons involved in Inuyasha and the main character Kagome doesn't try to become a priestess but she is the reincarnation of one. Other than that its pretty much the same! 

They bouth have a girl that is going back to time. Have fantasy and romance. InuYasha is longer and it has less romance then Fushigi Yuugi but they are really similar. I am sure if you liked Fushighi Yuugi you will like InuYasha 

Both of these shows are isekai anime before that really was considered to be a thing. So it's an isekai without all the trappings of more modern isekai. These two in particular are really similar to each other. They both feature female main characters who fulfill a priestess role, who have romantic relations with a person from that other world. Neither of them really go back much to their original worlds, so in both the story mostly takes part in the other world. (and both feature jealous characters that become really grating after a while lol) I think Fushigi Yuugi is a little bit (focus on the little bit) more satisfying to watch than inuyasha in terms of character development, but it is a little bit more... unique... so to say. Both are a good watch if you are into this kind of thing, so I would recommend you watch both of them. After having watched Fushigi Yuugi you should watch Inuyasha since it's just a classic and it's good time passing. And you should watch Fushigi Yuugi after having watched Inuyasha if you want more from where that came from. read more 

Nostalgia is strong with these two. A girl goes to another world, falls in love with someone there. The relationship is impossible. Some strong battles. A manipulative villain. 

Both stories are about heroines traveling to an alternate world (Kagome travels to Feudal Japan, while Miaka travels into a book iwith an ancient Chinese setting) and have historical and supernatural elements. Romance and rivalry are large themes in both.  

Both of these series are set in a feudal medieval setting and are also both fall under as an isekai in a technical sense since the protagonist in their respective series travel from modern era Japan. The protagonists themselves are both high school girls who end up as a priestess in their respective world each with a set of travelling companions in their quest to save their world. Both series have a fair amount of romance mixed in with a dark setting not shying away from death although Inuyasha has more of a darker tone than Fushigi Yuugi.  

The heroine in both anime have red hair and similar personality. They both gather a harem of pretty boys with super powers in order to fulfill some kind of prophecy. Each heroine is betrayed in some way by their close friend and it causes them to toughen up. The main hero looks extremely similar in both anime as well. 

Takes place in the same era. Main female is protected by her guardians. Similar personality. One series she is transported there while the other she isn't. Both of them learn the truth of the world and their fate.  

This two animes are one of my favorites. Both have the inverse harem, full of handsome and strong guys to protect the main character. The two protagonists are both weak in the beginning but soon found their inner strength. You also have the fantasy/historical theme (and of course, the comedy) going on which I enjoy very much, although in Fushigi Yuugi you have two universes, and in Akatsuki no Yona is one universe. Fushigi Yuugi is a much older anime that Akatsuki no Yona, but both have a strong plot and strong characters. Two very distinct animes but at the same time very similar. I'm sure if you enjoyed Akatsuki no Yona you will enjoy Fushigi Yuugi! read more 

They take place in a historical era, the story is a little bit different but in both series the main heroine tries to gather people with strange powers (the dragons in akatsuki no yona and the celestial warriors in fushigi yuugi). There are both funny and sad moments and you will see the development of the characters as they pursue their goal between love, friendship and betrayal 

the stories both involve a princess/priestess going on a journey to find her guardian dragons/celestial warriors. although i have to admit akatsuki no yona is more dramatic and has a much deeper story. everything is actually connected and makes more sense. there is a reason why she is a princess, there is a reason why she has to collect her guardian dragons, while fushigi fuugi she just basically got lucky and chosen. (if you know what i mean) 

The Plot, in my opinion matches up to 60 - 70%! Girl on a journey to find companions in order to achieve her goal! These companions have supernatural powers and sweet background stories! 

- Mediaval scenario. - Fantasy Story - A princess/pristess with her magical nakama. - Good characters as well. 

The fantasy elements of these titles are very similar, with each both main characters fairly the same. Beautiful animations from the same studio! 

-both main characters are girls who initially are clumsy but they need to strenghten their personality to endure the reality. -their romance is lovable but not cloying,therefore is not like most shoujo. -the main characters are surrounded by handsome men who would do everything possible to defend 

Akatsuki no Yona is like the new era of Fushigi Yuugi, with much more decent main character. Yona is the red dragon, protected by the four dragons: Ki-ja, Shin-Ah, Jae-Ha and Zeno. Meanwhile in Fushigi Yuugi, Miaka is one of the priestess of the Universe of the Four Gods, destined to gather the seven Celestial Warriors of the god Suzaku in order to summon Suzaku and obtain three wishes. While in Akatsuki no Yona, the main character, the red dragon Yona is still searching for her path to take, whatever her resolve may be, Fushigi Yuugi is one of the best anime out there if you want a much more similar plot like Akatsuki no Yona.  read more 

Fushigi Yuugi is slightly older yet one of my favorite animes of all times. Akatsuki No Yona has a similar vibe. Both animes center around a beautiful female lead who is innocent/kind and slowly transitions to a strong formidable character. If you like romantic/period animes with really good looking male characters (*drool* .... sorry!) vying for female attention, yet the female only has one potential partner (unlike the ones where the leads cannot make up their mind) - then you will love both of these animes. Although in Akatsuki, it's a bit subtle - but then again it doesn't have a season 2... yet! so who knows. These animes have a good story line, funny moments, strong character build up, and friendship elements between the male characters - which at times is hilarious as they gang up on each other.  read more 

The two anime are both Historical and Reverse Harem. The girl is protected by her guardians and the love bloomed in one of those guardians. These two stories contain betrayal on the one you trust and how the protagonist deal with the hurt and difficulty she encountered along the way. Making her strong for everybody who protects her.  

Both Lead characters are similar, story line is also similar with finding warriors to protect the nations. Growth arch of female leads are similar, and the dynamics between the love interests are also the same. Although Fushigi Yuugi has more ups and downs and has more emphasis on the romance, Akatsuki no Yona does this is a more subtle manner while focusing on personal growth.  

There is a big similitary between the two stories where the heroine has to to search for some people to reach her goal  

Basically the same show, where a miko travels to a different timeline and is surrounded by handsome protectors, except the miko serves a different god. 

Well you have your celestial warriors and then theres your love connections between each one of them to the priestess and well..... 

Similar in almost every way. The only difference is the length; HaruToki is shorter with only 26 episodes while Fushigi Yuugi is longer. 

Very similar themes - a miko recruiting warriors who are represented by Seiryuu, Suzaku, Byakko and Genbu 

They both have a girl that is pulled into another world. They both have the same four gods - Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu and Seiryuu. The girls are both made mikos - Miaka is the Suzaku no Miko and Akane is the Ryuujin no Miko. Both Mikos are surrounded by men and they are both of their GUARDIANS - both have signs (Tamahome and the others have chinese signs, Tenma and the others have jewels). Also, more than one character falls in love with the main character - like Tamahome and Hotohori and Tenma and Yorihisa. 

A girl in present time goes back to the ancient world to be a miko. Reverse harem theme. Fushigi yuugi is longer and has more depth, while Haru toki is shorter so you don't get dragging. Similarity: 3 1/2 * 

In both Fushigi Yuugi, and Haruka the main girl gets transported to a new world. They become, priestesses to protect the world from chaos befalling the land. Plus they each have several protectors who help them in tight situations.  

both of them revolves around a girl from another world n they have many good looking guys who is protecting them so it kinda look similar in many ways. there s also romance involved n adventure..anyway i prefer fushigi yuugi cuz its wayy better but i enjoy watching both of em. gudluck >.< 

they are both about a priestess and about 4 gods/people 

just like in fushigi yuugi, the main character comes from a different world, but instead of appearing to the feudal era by book its by a well. the two are both priestess who have to search for the celestial warriors who are to help her in her mission to save the world from some sort of disaster. the warriors all have a relationship weather it be romantic or a relationship in which they hold her dear and want to protect her with their lives, just as fushigi yuugi. it is pretty much the same thing- except the romance is dimmed down.  

There's a girl who travels through time in both series and she has to collect seven mens to protect her and save the world. And both are priestesses, in Haruka; Ryuujin no miko and in Fushigi Yugi Suzaku no Miko. The theme is actually quite the same! 

Girl transported to an ancient world and is the chosen Pristess, has to find her warriors to complete her role as the Pristess. 

Both were beautifully done by Yu Watase and also have very unique stories in both of the series. Lots of fantasy with a mixture of romance in each of the stories. Enjoy! 

Even without remembering that Yuu Watase was the same magnaka for both series, I was already picking out similarities between these two animes within the first two episodes. The way romance is approached, art style and high dramatic appeal is pretty much identical. If you liked one, you'll probably like the other. 

Yuu Watase has made both of them so they both have a love triangle, lots of drama and romance, and such :) 

They have a similar story line and were both written by Yuu Watase.  

Both anime's are created by anime aclaimed author Watase, Yuu. The graphics and designs of characters are pretty similar. A story of risking one's life for the protection of another...Endless mysteries, magical powers, and intense romance. 

Same author, same art style. While watching one you'll get the feel of the other. Both are made up of romance and fantasy. The only difference is that Ayashi no Ceres has a more serious atmosphere while Fushigi Yuugi has some comedy thrown in the mix. 

Anime by the same mangaka (Watase Yuu). It's less dark but still great. And there will definetely be the right Suzaku Warrior for you. 

They are both Yuu Watase's works, so they have similar love triangle, drama, romance and adventure elements.  

Same author. Great love story with tear jerker moments. Beautiful characters and love story. A girl has to deal with her unwanted fate at the age of 16. It's also a coming of age story filled with love and sadness.  

Written by same author Watase, Yuu, this anime has similar ring to it. Plot is as amazing as the Mysterious Play.. A must watch for Fushigi Yuugi fans... :) 

This anime struck me as very similar from the very begining, Saiunkoku developed its own story line, but the time period is simlar, and the characters are simlar as well. From the loveable emperor, to the distant traveler. Saiunkoku is perfect if you liked everything about Fushigi except for the overly mushy Miaka and Tamahome. 

the time and place that revolves around the story is similar. it's also a reverse-harem, bishie infested anime. not only are there a lot of bishies, most of the characters on both anime falls for the main girl. on top of that, both heroines on both anime have some facial similarities. 

Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku Monogatari is somehow the same because of its reverse harem type. They make you fall in love with the guy and girl characters too. For me, Saiunkoku Monogatari is better than Fushigi Yuugi because of its story. Saiunkoku Monogatari is more on the realistic/political side with the side dish of comedy and love... 

this is similar because there are love triangles, kinda same drawing, and both are ancient time.. ^^ 

both animes are set in the ancient era... besides,some of the characters look so much alike... especiall with emperors hotohori and ryuuki 

both have strong women as the protagonist and are surrounded by handsome and reliable men...the art is similar too  

They are not alike but - 1. both of them take place in ancient China 2. Hotohori = Ryuuki 3. Shuurei and Miaka kinda looks alike 4. Seiran is a bit like Tamahome. The differences are mainly - 1. Too much Politics in Saiunkoku while FY focuses on romance and plot. 2. Shuurei is more formal, womanish while Miaka is a simple girl and feels more with her emotion. 3. FY is better. 

one similarity between fushigi and saiunkoku is that there are more than one factions on each show 

They both happen in ancient china. Both are centred around strong girls. They also have similar character design.  

Both story lines involve the semi-innocent tough girl who has to choose between an emperor and a close friend. In Fushigi Yuugi, it gets to the love story much faster than in Saiunkoku, but with them both set in ancient China with the strong hearted heroine, the emotions are extremely similar! 

Both feature crossing over from "reality" to fantasy land. 

The environment is likely Ancient China in both. They also feature a random girl transported to that world and given the role of changing destiny. 

Imagine Fushigi Yugi without the love stories and you'll get The Twelve Kingdoms. It has less bishōnen characters and more fighting, but besides that it's almost the same. 

A girl who comes to another world to be some kind of "savior". Magic. Similarity: 2 1/2 * 

Both series star heroines that are typical high school students who both get wisked away to a fantasy world. Once there, both worlds have an 'ancient China' feel to it and the two heroines go on live-changing journeys. But unlike Fughigi Yuugi, 12 Kingdoms has zero romance, almost no comedy, and its all politics.  

both animes are set in an ancient era and has the past-present world crossover... 

Isekai with a medieval Chinese background. Female protagonist and rivality between two female friends.  

Both deals with high school girls that travel to an alt. world Both have bishonen (fushigi yugi more than escaflowne) Both girls have some sort of mystic power Fushigi Yugi is nice bishonen/action series and w/ a twisted intresting story. if havent already try it out!  

A girl being taken to another world. Where as Escaflowne is mecha and Fushigi yuugi isn't they still have love as part of this story. I still believe they are both brilliant but Fushigi yuugi is a love story and is brilliant! 

The main protagonists are very similar particularly regarding personality. Both end up in different worlds with supernatural elements, though Escaflowne involves sci-fi elements built into the series. The styles are also quite similar. 

Same plot, both main female characters were swallowed into another world. Both anime(s) were about war, love, peace, freedom and all that stuff. :D 

A teenager girl is transported to another world and ends up in a fight between reigns. There's romance, fighting and lots of adventure. Both shows present very different and interesting supporting characters that you get fond of. The MC wants to go back to her world, but at the same time she gets invested in helping the people she met in this other world.  

In both series, the main heroine ends up in a different universe where there are conflict between reigns. She has some kind of power and travels with her allies in order to help in restoring the peace. Romance and friendship will accompany her journey. Fushigi Yuugi has more comedy scenes as well as sad ones 

Both Have Magical Girl Reverse Harem Attributes to them. 

Both Reverse Harems give the same feeling. A strong yet weak at times heroine is protected by a group of handsome guys with special powers. Both heroines are very similar to each other personality-wise and they both fall in love with one of their protectors, not to mention their love for food and their comical situations. If you've watched one then you will most probably like the other one, though personally Fushigi Yuugi is much better in all aspects (ie: characters, plot and art wise). 

in both the main character is a girl, and somehow have protectors. they are both on a mission and have funny moment 

both are about a girl who has multaple male companions that fight with or help her save the(or a) world. in Fushigi Yuugi Miaka is taken into a book called The Universe of the Four Gods to become The Prestes Sakura and has to find her 7 Sakura Warriors. In Pretear her own world is in danger and her companions find her. both have a romance that builds between the main girl and one of the companions that makes it interesting. (The only thing is Fushgi Yuugi has a lot more to it and is more complex)

Main character is a slightly clumsy girl whose protected by several beautiful bishounen sworn by fate to protect her from harm. Action and a promise for romance in both.  

Super similar. - One girl (Princess/priestess who has yet to come into her ancestral abilities) - 3 or more beautiful men AKA chosen guardians protecting her. - Older Japanese era. (Princesses, swords, shrines, yukatas etc.) - Spirits, Demons, powers, magic. - Intense romance and passion and pain. 

This is your typical OMG soap opera kinda heart throb eye candy anime which I'm not gonna lie I love them lol :D. They both have interesting situations as Miyaka trying to fufil her duty as a priestess and Kajika becoming a strong women as an heir to her fathers company. 

Similar: Strong female lead, Reverse Harem (lots of guys liking one girl), Romance, some light comedy, Lots of Drama Differences: Fushigi Yuugi is more adventurous and a little more comedy while Hanasakeru Seishounen is more political and more dramatic. 

The main character is transported to another world. They are chosen/destined to save that world. Same series written by Yuu Watase. Similar themes and art.  

both where a person is transported to another world. they both also have magic and magical powers. 

Both have time traveling, but Fushigi Yuugi is based in China, while Inuyasha is in Japan. 

both series featured martial arts and are set in ancient china.. i even love matching its heroes with the 3 of the four groups of celestial warriors, and all the heroes have markings on various parts of their bodies,.. also, taitou reminds me of tasuki 

Both series are isekai about a prophetic hero being transported to another world via a book found in a library and attempting to overcome a harrowing journey and adversity. Both also have that appeal that pumps you up and makes you want to jump right into the next episode to root for the hero. The only real difference between the 2 is the Fushigi Yugi is more of a Shoujo and Shield Hero more Shounen.  

Both series share the same premise: a group of warriors have to protect a girl of divine nature. In Saint Seiya those warriors are called "saints", who figh according to the occidental constellations, as they serve the incarnation of the goddess Athena, Saori. In Fushigi Yuugi, they are called "seishis", fighting by the chinese constellations, in order to protect Miaka, god Suzaku's proxy. While Saint Seiya focuses on the battles themselves, Fushigi Yuugi's attention is driven more to the characters drama. All have epic fights and memorable characters, who often have to fight another deities warriors. However, they may contain some disturbing scenes as well. 

Both have a strong sense of loyalty and friendship. Though Fushigi Yuugi has a love story that is plain as day, I'm sure Fairy Tail as a possibility of having one too somewhere down the line.
