Both are similar because they involve a modern girl who gets transported to alternative feudal Chinese world. They also appear to have some of the same historical Chinese myths and legend occasionally. Both are fantasy anime but Fushigi Yuugi seems to involve more dramatic plot turns, deeper romance between the main characters, and occasionally serious subject to bring depth to the character and expose their psyche. Overall Fushigi Yuugi and Inu Yasha both have good characters and are both humorous and entertaining anime.

Both shows are historical and fascinating, they both have romance, comedy, magic, and are really strong in characters department. Fushigi Yuugi although old its one of the best animes I've ever seen, and Akatsuki no Yona its a refreshing anime with breathtaking graphics. Both of them a must watch for sure.

These two shows are extremely similar. A couple of high school students are transported to a "different" world and the girl is chosen as a priestess. No difference! What you need to know are the differences, which are: in Fushigi you have a harem anime with tons of romance and the love triangles/squares/whatever are blatantly obvious, plus lots of comedy. In Harukanaru there is a much more serious tone and much less romance (well, it takes much longer to be revealed and then it's much more discreet). Other than this, the plot is almost identical.

The story line of an average school girl being dragged into a much more fantasy like world or situation is similar to that in fushigi yuugi. This is also a reverse harem anime, much like fushigi yuugi. The romance in this and the love triangle and obstacles are also similar in the two shows.

Both animes are set in Ancient China, and the character design is rather similar. Although Saiunkoku doesn't have an adventurous plot like Fushigi Yuugi, whoever liked the background of Fushigi Yuugi should check Saiunkoku Monogatari.

Both of the stories have the same base behind them. A young girl taken away to an alternate world that is unlike their own. With people who protect them and hardships both must face in a new world. Unlike Fushigi Yuugi however, Juuni Kokuki focuses on more then one character and can easily be said to develop their fictional world much more better. It would be wise to take note though that while Fushigi Yuugi has a main focus of romance, Juuni Kokuki does not have too many of these romantic elements present.

Both heroines are thrown into another world and fall in love!

You've got one girl trying to save the world with the help of seven handsome guys. Both are fantastic.

A girl finds out she is basically has god like powers and is a special person that is supposed to be protected by a group of guardians in order to protect the world. The Anime also have a similar feel about them.

In a lot of ways, these two long shoujo series are perfect for a very specific audience, and quite dull to the rest of the anime fandom. Shoujo fans that eat up soap opera-esque drama will fall in love with both of these series. Non-fans, however, will probably not get past more than a few episodes of either. Both are reverse harems (and never pretend not to be; it's obvious that most of the bishies surrounding the heroine are interested in her) but also include a complicated plotline. They're both very dramatic, often reaching melodrama territory, in all aspects, from story to characters to relationships. Finally,  read more

The worlds that the main protagonist ends up in both worlds are far from the modern worlds they come from, yet the conflict revolves around the main protagonist and they find themselves needing to gain power to solve the problem.

Both stories are shojo-ish adventures with a magical/historical feel to both and the main character receiving lots of attention from other beautiful people.

These two series are classic series with a female main protagonist. The styles used are different, yet both female find themselves taken out of place in time and place and forced outside of their comfort zone into a conflict revolving around them not of their own choosing.

According to the stars, if you like one you might like the other. Humor aside, both of these series deal with fated heroes who have their fates predetermined in some manner yet the journey they go through is far from what they expected. The detail on the clothing, albeit more detailed in one series and then the other, is aesthetically pleasing.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both start with the main characters being drawn into a book and ending up in another world in which they need to fulfill some kind of prophecy while not being the only one from another world. Main characters need to find companions on their journey. While it's about four different heroes in Rising of the Shield Hero, it's about four different nations with a priestress each in Fushigi Yuugi (although only two of them get some real meaning during the main series). Both series include lots of intrigues against the main characters.

Both series feature a female main as the main protagonist. Fushigi Yuugi is from an older era of Manga and Anime series. The series involves a colorfully diverse cast for both, yet rich world the viewer learns about more as they grow.

Made by the same company and has the same plots and story lines (romance). Instead of having 6 guys chasing 1 chick, there are 6 chicks chasing 1 guy. It involves magic and time travel as well as showing how fragile the human mind is.

The heroines are both similar in atmosphere. The art is also similar. You'll love the male leads. Romance wins.

These two anime revolve around friendship, losing it and working hard to restore it back to where it used to, but this time, only better. Both main characters of the two shows' motivations to achieve their goal are somehow similar as well. Chances are, if you liked the friendship concept of either, then you'll probably like the other as well.

The themes in those two anime are common in 'A schoolgirl travels to another world by accident' although the differences between those two are that Fushigi Yugi's another world is based on Ancient China and Pop In Q's another world has cute animal like fairy species living in small houses. Fushigi Yugi and Pop In Q focused on character development where the main protagonist has to help everyone in the another world while confronting her own problems as well. What they do to save the world: In Fushigi Yuugi, the protagonist has to summon Suzaku, the god of the south and Pop In Q:  read more

Similarities :- - Girl falls into a fantasy world with far eastern themes. - Girl is a bit of a Mary Sue with her being the only one that can be described as "normal" - Girl has brown hair and eyes... because normal. - Romance plays a major role. - Hints at a reverse harem. Differences :- - Fushigi Yuugi dives deeper into Chinese mythology and character development - The art is more stylized in Fushigi - The main girl is proactive in Fushigi, In Kakuriyo she just stands there and things happen around her.

Both have characters from different worlds and annoying female protagonists. If you like Fushigi Yuugi, I think you will love Zero no Tsukaima (but not the other way around).

Personally, I love them both. I love the 90's era style of anime that they both portray fantastically. Tons of romance and emotional monologues in both :) Chibiusa in Sailor Moon is Maika's Voice Actor. Nuriko's VA is Yaten's too (little bit of gender bender in both there) :) Love one, you'll enjoy them both

I know that the girl main character in this anime isn't the same as the main character in Fushigi Yuugi because the main girl character in Xie Wang Zhui Qi is a assassin But they do have a lot of similarity. The main girl character in this two anime across world and end up in a world which is traditional and has magic. The boy main character in this two anime is really strong too. And this two anime even has a king enemy who doesn't like the main boy character clan, he is really strong .

Main character is transported to another world. She is the chosen one who will change the people around her. She meets her protectors/guardians who fall in love with her. Reverse harem anime and romance.

-Same story about four Gods -Same love story about Priestess and the Warrior. Example: Tamahome and Miaka, Meirin and Yuuki Asuka -The main protagonist is a priestess. Same plot story, and romance.

Legend of Basara and Fushigi Yuugi have many things in common. Both are Romance and Drama shows with a little bit adventure, and these animes give you the same feeling while are watching. Both are good

Both mains characters are transferred into another world/reality to support a cause/kingdom. Fushigi Yugi is more shojo-like (main character is a girl), and Endride more shonen-like (a boy).

If you like Fushigi Yuugi watch Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Maihitoyo~ it basically has the same concept, a girl from another world arrives and becomes the priestess of that land. Unlike Fushigi Yuugi, it doesn't have the "mushy" stuff although you might like the handsome guys! This is actually the movie for its TV series; "Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~Hachiyou Shou~. Better watch the TV series first before watching this movie. This is one of the anime movies that made me cry, so I really recommend you guys to watch this!

Again, there's a girl that's surrounded by men and some of them fall in love with her. The guys also have signs like in Fushigi Yuugi - although they're aren't seen. They are the guardians of the elements. I really liked this anime and I liked Ange - she's really self-consciouss and gets embarrassed easily.
report Recommended by bakaprincess
Well it's not really similar in the way of giving Sacrea and all that, but there are bishounens around a girl that has a special title in the universe. It's also about different elements, I think, and it's characteristics, like Hotohori with his gentleness (same as Lumiale).

Both main character and the best friend transferred in to an alternate world. The main character became the good guy, while the best friend sided with the bad one. In the end they were ‘battling’ for what they believed…

Another anime with a central female character who possesses unique magical powers and is protected by a large group of bishounen.

Reverse harem show involving one a high school girl.

If you liked Trigun, then you prolly like good involved stories, with everything in them, like plot twists, humor, tragedy, romance and killer fight scenes. Fushigi Yuugi, though slow to start has all that and more. The biggest similarity is both these Anime's ROCK!

Its a world full of magic! only the magical people know it though. Miaka in Fushigi Yugi is actually a ruler of the seven warriors of Suzaku. And Ichigo is the leader of a group of Mutant (but adorable) half animal-ish warriors here to save Tokyo from the aliens Kish, Tart and Pie and thier Evil Chimeras. They're bothe really good!

both are romantic fantasy adventure shoujo about a weak main character who's being protected by very powerful and beautiful guardians.
report Recommended by gknight
Both talks about two best friends being thrown into a different world apart from their current. However, for fushigi yuugi its more towards shoujo filled with tint of romance while kiba is more towards shounen that is filled with action.

Fushigi Yuugi and Tsubasa Chronicles, for me they have their similarities. It tells that in Fushigi Yuugi, Miaka Yuuki sucked into an ancient Chinese novel titled "The Universe of the Four Gods",sees that she can travel in other world because of the book. Miaka become Priestess of Suzaku, as the Priestess of Suzaku her duty is to gather the Seven Warriors or Seven Seishi of Suzaku, who are to be her protectors. while... in Tsubasa Chronicles, the similarities of the story between the two is when Princess Sakura lost her feathers that contains her memories. Syaoran, who is her protector, travels to different world in search of  read more

The similarities are in the plot/SL, You can see that the two anime/Manga both revolve around the needed 7 warriors.... Just with two different reasons of being... One's to save the world and the other to save only a portion of land from being taken over by the opposite country..

Like Fushigi Yuugi two young women found themselves transported into a different world tearing apart by wars where they are the saviors who will bring peace.

Both series involve the heroine to travel to a different world (or world's in Tsubasa's case). Both have action and adventure in them. Fushigi Yuugi however focuses more on the romance aspect of the main couple while Tsubasa has it's focus on the adventure and sacrifices the main male character has to make in order to save his princess.

Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku monogatari has many things in common. Both animes are taken place in ancient Asian cultures. It takes place in an era of war where the emperors rage wars to keep their empires in toll. Both animes revolves around a romantic triangle. Character personas and design are also very similar. If you are a fan of either anime, i'd strongly recommend and encourage you to watch the other as well!
